Trending feedback for the new Workfront experience Beta - September 13th 2019

Hi everyone, You now have the Beta of the new Workfront experience in your production instance, allowing you to use the new experience in your daily work. System admins can switch themselves and other users back and forth between the new Workfront experience and Workfront Classic. I wanted to highlight a few new features now available in the new experience. Navigation Welcome to your new workspace! As you navigate to your most frequently visited work areas inside Workfront, you'll notice you can now pin their locations. This allows you to create your own Workspace where you'll always be one click away from what matters most to you. Customization using Layout Templates Workspaces provide users the ability to customize their navigation to be the most important items to them. However, organizations also have important and custom areas of Workfront that they always want present in the global navigation. In the next few weeks, we will provide the ability for system admins to set default pins and landing page within a users' workspace so that the organization can continue to have a level of governance. It provides the best of both worlds for the user and the organization. Favorites icon in the top navigation Your feedback drove this update to add the favorites icon back to the top navigation and remove favorites from the new search screen. Enjoy! New Project Details now with customization You can now configure the order of sections in the details and hide/show native details data. Custom data can now be elevated and only the fields you want shown to your users. Next we will be moving this new details experience to task and issue details. Updated look for Reports and Dashboards For the past two weeks, your feedback has consolidated around search and navigation. Above we mentioned our latest updates on navigation. Below is a summary of the search feedback with a response from the Workfront product team on our next steps: Search We've heard a lot of great feedback around filtering. Some positive, some negative. One of the biggest challenges we've heard our users are having is around multi-filter search and advanced searching. The need to contour searches in order to get accurate results back to find what users are looking for is key. To address this, we're adding back the ability to enter advanced search from the search page. This allows users to perform their basic searches in the existing design we have today but also have access to advanced search for when you need specific levers to find what you're looking for. Additionally, please refer to the following posts for previous feedback and next steps since the Beta started. Thanks for sharing, @Josh Boston . It helps to know what the Prod Mgmt team are thinking about as functionaltiy is released and changed. I've submitted some issues and feedback today....there's a few areas that will need some attention but I think it's on the right track overall. David Cornwell

I'm seeing an error message when I attempt to view the project details after customizing the layout. Message is "An unexpected error happened." When I revert to the standard view - no issue. Anyone else? Gregory Schmidt

@Gregory Schmidt I see the same thing after customizing the layout. I put feedback in under the 'help' button in the lower right corner. I also kept receiving an error message that read An error has occurred and we are working to resolve this issue. To continue with your work, try refreshing this browser page. Refeshing didn't always work. This was also a piece of my feedback. It got so bad that I had to exit beta to do my work for the day. Janelle Hicks Lifespan Corporation

Thank you for trying out the new functionality of customising the project details page from the layout template. For now, hiding the following fields is not supported: *Projected Dates *Planned Dates *Resource Manager Hiding other fields should work fine. Hi Josh & Workfront team, As I encounter issues in the New Experience, I'm submitting feedback via the Help button in the lower right corner of the screen. Is there any benefit to duplicating that feedback in these beta feedback threads, or is that duplicative effort? William English T-Mobile

I'm submitting general feedback via the Help button, but I'm also raising Support incidents for the items which I see as critical to our usage of the product....and so we need an official response in case we need to escalate it. There's really only one design-related issue in this category for us at the moment, plus one defect which I'm sure will be fixed. David Cornwell

Hi All Some of the immediate things that are hindering using this is that i went to try and configure the layout templates. I don't have the ability when looking at them in "Setup" to be able to scroll through the list as there appears to be no option to scroll? Similarly we have a report as a tab on each project and when this renders in the project window again there is no ability to scroll down to see everything there? Is this feedback best as a ticket or via the "General Feedback" through the help button? Does anyone else face this issue? Thanks Jonathan Thain BT Group

@William English Although it may seem a duplicative effort. I find it beneficial to have to feedback here in the community to see what other users are experiencing. @William English Please continue to use the Help button > Give Feedback for any suggestions or feedback. This is routed to our Product teams and they are trending the feedback. We will report back the results here in the Beta group every two weeks. We do recommend you report any bugs/issues to Workfront Support as they can help investigate, provide a workaround and follow up with you once the issue is resolved. I've been submitting a number of such problems using the help button at the lower right. Oddly, today, that button isn't working. I tried clicking the help link in the grid of options at the upper right, but I got an error page from force.com. Corey Young Dayton Children's Hospital

I landed on submitting defects to Support; general feedback using the Help button; and selectively commenting on this thread. The Help link in Global Navigation (the one you are getting an error from) is supposed to link to your org's custom help site. That URL can be defined in your system settings. But, the link instead points to a malformed URL; which is why you are getting the DNS error. This is one of the defects I submitted to Support, case number 00165595. William English T-Mobile

Hello, I am trying to view the video tutorials on the new experience to help build a comms and training plan for the rollout but keep getting an error when I try to view the videos or documents. This post mentions being able to set default pins in a layout template, but I'm not seeing how. Can someone point me in the right direction? Or is there documentation that I missed on the Experience site? Kirsten Heikkinen
