Hi everyone, This biweekly post is Workfront's communication of the trending feedback we have received from all of you participating in the beta. Over the past two weeks, we deployed updates to the new Workfront experience beta that provided a few updates with the following key update: Customize the landing page and to navigation pins - Released to Production In a Layout Template, you can now customize the landing page and add default pins to the top navigation for your users. This update also stores pins to a user's profile removing the issue where clearing your browser cache clears the pins. Please reference this release activity page for all of the latest new functionality. Below we have summarized the top trending feedback over the last two weeks and we have included a response from the Workfront product team on our next steps: Feedback Area Trending Feedback Workfront Product Team's response Proofing The proof viewer is missing a close button. Next week’s update will include an update to include the close button and adding in additional breadcrumb navigation. New details overview Navigating and editing fields when multiple custom forms are attached. We are researching solutions to improve this navigation and we will provide an update once we understand when this will be available. Main Menu Icons New users in NWE are reporting that Main Menu icons for Dashboards, Teams, etc. are not showing. Currently, the missing Main Menu icons need to be added using layout templates. Additionally, we are working on improving this experience by better reflecting your Classic layout template settings and elevating necessary icons to the Main Menu in the new experience. Additionally, please refer to last week's "https://one.workfront.com/s/question/0D50z00006Px3LCCAZ/" post for a summary of other trending feedback from January 2020. Also this "https://one.workfront.com/s/question/0D50z00006Px3NjCAJ/" post summarizes the trending feedback in 2019 and our next steps. Thanks, Josh Josh Boston Workfront

Hi @Josh Boston When switching users from the classic experience to the new experience, will we have to rebuild every layout template? Or will classic layout templates be translated automatically into the new experience (ex. default tabs will become default pins)? Kirsten Heikkinen

Hi Kirsten, Thanks for the question! All your Classic experience Layout Templates are already migrated to New Workfront Experience, so you don't need to rebuild anything manually. However, I'd recommend exploring the new customizations and capabilities new Layout Templates provide in order to personalize the experience even more. May I ask what do you mean by "Default tabs"? Is that the landing page? Thanks, Gevorg Gevorg Kazaryan Product Manager

Hi Gevorg, Thanks for the quick response! Yes, I meant the landing page, in addition to any other customized tabs added to the layout template. For example, many of our layout templates take users to the Reporting page by default, and then there are 5 custom dashboards that serve as the tabs in the reporting area. Kirsten Heikkinen

Hi Gevorg, Just following up on your comment that " All your Classic experience Layout Templates are already migrated to New Workfront Experience": was that conversion a one time event at some point in the past? are modifications to to Classic experience Layout Templates (e.g. "made today") synchronized to NWE (e.g. "tonight")? if not, if I copy a Classic experience Layout Template (e.g. "today"), will it then be synchronized to NWE (e.g. "tonight")? if not, shall I add time to my migration plan to (first) manually adjust / create NWE layout templates? Hi Kirsten, Thanks for the details provided! The landing page data is yet to be migrated to the New Workfront Experience. As for Reporting custom tabs in Classic, those will be migrated to the "Dashboards" section in New Workfront Experience and you'll see those 5 custom dashboards as left panel items - that is the change that will soon be available. Additionally, the other custom tabs you've created in Classic experience should already be available as left panel sections on corresponding objects in New Workfront Experience. I hope that helps. Hi Doug, I'm really glad you've asked all those questions - thank you! Let me answer: was that conversion a one time event at some point in the past? Yes, migration is a one-time event that had happened in the past. are modifications to to Classic experience Layout Templates (e.g. "made today") synchronized to NWE (e.g. "tonight")? After migration the modifications made in Classic stay in Classic and anything done in NWE stay in NWE. The reason there is no synchronization is that the experiences are very different and the customizations made in each may not be applicable to different experiences. (e.g. in NWE you can set a custom dashboard as a landing page and you couldn't in Classic, thus there is a mismatch in synchronization) if not, if I copy a Classic experience Layout Template (e.g. "today"), will it then be synchronized to NWE (e.g. "tonight")? No, migration is actually 1-time action so the copied Layout Template won't sync to NWE "tonight". However, if you've recently created many Layout Templates in Classic experience and you'd want them to be migrated to NWE we can run the migration for your instance once again - all you need to do is to contact our support team. if not, shall I add time to my migration plan to (first) manually adjust/create NWE layout templates? I'd recommend adding some time to your migration plan anyway, as new Layout Templates are very different from Classic ones and provide much more flexibility and more capabilities than the Classic experience. Thus I'd recommend playing around and customizing new Layout Templates, in order to get even more personalized experience. I hope this helps and I'm happy to answer any more questions on the topic. Hi! We ran into a major mishap this morning in using the NWE. One of our admin reports includes what forms are attached to what projects (so we don't miss any data points) with someone accidentally removing a form. It's the same report, but when accessed via the NWE it's missing information. The same report in classic shows this: In the NWE this is missing: As a result, we didn't see that a project was missing out our dashboards. Any idea whats going on?

I no longer seem to have a "Feedback" button visible in NWE. Did this button move to a different location? Justin White

Hello, Christina, Thank you for reporting the problem with Category > Custom Field Category field. I'm glad to inform that this field is currently being fixed and will soon display the form's name in NWE, but please note that it will be read-only. I have a few questions about your usage of this field though. All fields under Category section in view builder, including Custom Field Category, display only the first attached form's information. This means that if you have multiple forms attached, you won't see the rest of the forms. On the other hand, the [object] > Category Name field (ex. Project > Category Name if you're building a project view) shows all attached forms. Besides, it's clickable and opens a window with all the custom forms and field values. Is there a specific reason why you prefer adding Category > Custom Field Category to your views instead of the [object] > Category Name? Thank you! Lilit Lilit Mkrtchyan

Thanks Lilitz! One gives me a clickable field, the other does not. (given an option between two identical fields that give the same info, I opted for the first. The Category > Name field also does not give all forms attached. In this project, there's two forms but in both fields only the top form shows.

Hi @Justin White , Yes, the Help button in the lower right was moved to the top navigation next to the Favorites/Recents Star icon. You can follow along with our weekly updates to the beta on this page . Here is the link to the Help button moving. Josh Boston

Thanks Josh, I see it now. It is nice not to have it sitting on top of other page information, so overall great result. Keep up the great work. Justin White

Darn - wish I had seen this before we migrated, as it was a very long night fixing all layouts and finding some layouts were missing...the key part missing for me was asking Support to migrate once more...XD Miranda Rais

Arg. That is unfortunate Miranda, I appreciate you sharing your pain, though, because I am certain others will have the same need to resync their Layout Templates from classic to NWE as they make the transition. Gevorg, with the intention of smoothing the path from classic to NWE...as the routine to perform this resync already exists, the manual effort it saves is material, SysAdmins already Know Best when such a resync is warranted, and Workfront Support time is a precious resource not to be squandered (but also a potential bottleneck), would it be possible for Workfront to expose the "Resync Layout Templates from Classic to NWE" routine as either a button or special link (similar to /resetUser) within NWE? Regards, Doug Doug Den Hoed - AtAppStore

Hi Doug, Thank you so much for sharing that idea! We will evaluate how feasible that kind of solution might be. I'm curious to hear from community - how valuable it might be to have the ability to manually trigger Layout Templates resync between Classic and New Workfront Experience? Why? Looking forward to hearing your thoughts. Thanks, Gevorg Gevorg Kazaryan Product Manager
