The new Workfront experience beta preview

Avatar

Level 5
Hi Everyone, We are excited to release the new Workfront experience beta in your preview instance today. We have been researching and collecting feedback on our modern work management platform for the past few years. We've listened to your ideas, incorporated your feedback, and built this new experience alongside you. This will be a journey over the next few months as we listen and continually improve the design to ensure we are helping you do your best work. Please use this beta discussion for any questions related to the new Workfront experience, and we will help answer questions you may have. For feedback, we encourage you to submit this in the application by using the Help button in the bottom right of your screen. This routes directly to our Product teams who will take action and trend the feedback. Trending feedback will be posted here every two weeks with a response from the Product team. Hi Christina, Yes after you have enrolled Bryan Loomis, as your picture indicates you did correctly, then Bryan will need to log out and back into your preview instance of Workfront. Once he logs in there will be an in app message pop-up welcoming him to the new Workfront experience. If he does not see the new workspace top navigation (completely redesigned) or the in app message, then he is not accessing the new experience. If you are running into an issue still, please reach out to our Support team so that we can investigate this further to understand if there is a product issue that needs to be resolved on your instance. Hi John, Thanks for the bug report. We do have an update planned over the weekend to Project Details. Here is a video reference for the functionality that will be available on Monday for the new Project Details that should help answer your questions. You may have some of the capability now but the full functionality will appear Monday. https://experience.workfront.com/s/article/The-new-Workfront-experience-Beta-Preview-release-activit... Are the branding options not appearing because the new experience is in preview or is this a glitch? I like the blue and white, but it would also be great to see how our branding settings would fit in the new experience. Jared Mauch Crown Equipment Corporation

I finally got in... the login/out didn't seem to work until things seemed to reset over the weekend. I might be the only nay-sayer here, but I like to give unfiltered feedback (I'm an engineer after all). I personally don't see the value in tabs. I think it adds complexity without much benefit (that I've seen so far). Every browser already has tabs, so tabbed browsing is already running smoothly in my opinion. Now we have tabs inside of tabs. Furthermore, if I center click on a link (global functionality for "open in new tab") it opens a new browser tab. Now the Workfront tabs I previously opened in the other browser tab are completely out of view and easily forgotten. Prior to this new experience, the only open tabs were all the top level (browser tabs), and never deeper than that. It seems like this update assumes people will stop opening new browser tabs and do everything within 1 browser tab. Probably not realistic. I like the menu in the top right. Cleaner and familiar to many other platforms. Matt Marks Banner Engineering Corp.

For the most part, I'm liking what I'm seeing. Looking forward to added flexibility with layouts. At the moment I don't see any way to move attributes around. An immediate concern is that I haven't found any means to edit existing Request Queue settings. Rick MacDuffie Symetra Life Insurance Company

Is this where we're going to capture all conversation about the new experience ? or is there a more appropriate sub discussion group ? Ryan Carroll Integrated Marketing Services

I agree with John - the favorites and recents are better where they currently are. I also don't like that I have to click to see the complete list of my favorites (View 9 more). Barb Pilarski Pittsburgh Penguins

Hi Jared, The branding options will appear later during this Beta. Now that you have seen the new experience, where would you like to apply your branding? Josh Boston Workfront

Hi Ryan, We wanted to provide a place to capture your initial questions and any high level feedback. We don't have sub discussion groups set up but if there is a specific topic you want to focus on, then yes please create another thread in this Beta Group. We will post another discussion thread every two weeks with the top trending feedback items we have received and a response from the Product team. Josh Boston Workfront

Hello, Just one small thing. On the classic interface we had a layout template that when a user clicked "Reports" its showed some pre-made dashboards in addition to the tab that lists all the reports. On the new interface, if we click "Reports" in the new main menu, we are taken to only one dashbaord with no option at all to get to the report listing - seems broken. I have created a new layout template to try and fix this but no luck. Is this being experienced by anyone else? Jack Kirkland Berkeley Group

Josh, Are the blue lines on the tabs able to swapped for a company's color? If so, that would be nice. Would it be possible to place our company's logo to the left of the lion? Like I said previously, I like the blue and white color scheme. It's nice and clean, but there doesn't seem to be a lot of places to apply branding choices. Jared Mauch Crown Equipment Corporation

Hi, I'm are excited to test out the new Workfront experience beta. I like the look and feel of the new experience beta. Here are a few items I noticed: Reports no longer load within our dashboards Layout template no longer performs as expected We leverage layout templates for our users for the "Reports" tab. Our "Reports" tab includes several dashboards that we require the users to access on a regular basis. In the new experience view, when a user clicked "Reports" and you only see the first dashboard. Is there a way to give the user a choice? It's important that my users have access to specific dashboards. I don't expect my users to search for the reports they need or memorize the names of the dashboards. Is anyone else using layout templates? Hello, When our users login, I want them to see the dashboard tabs that they currently have. I highly doubt that a majority of our end-users know that they are being directed to a 'dashboard' when they login, so making them know the name of the specific dashboards they need (we have 375), knowing that it is a dashboard, and having to search for it seems counter-productive. While the home screen works for some users who are simply completing a few tasks, others have hundreds of tasks so we have customized dashboards by process to make this easier for them to view. Others never have tasks assigned to them (managers), but login to view custom dashboards designed to show status/progress reports for their staff members. We do restrict access to dashboards, so they will not see all 375 when they search, but, for example, an accounting manager has access to the following dashboards: - ACCT - Financial Reporting (direct reports) - ACCT - Financial Reporting (executive) - ACCT - Financial Reporting (property accountant) - ACCT - Financial Reporting (admin) In the current environment, the dashboard they have a tab for is simply called 'Financial Reporting' and directs them to ACCT - Financial Reporting (direct reports) with links to the other dashboards as they are used less often by the manager. Now that manager will have to learn the actual name of the dashboard they once thought was simply 'Financial Reporting' and search for it. Similarly, our property accountants have access to all of these except the admin dashboard, but their default tab, also titled 'Financial Reporting,' actually goes to ACCT - Financial Reporting (property accountant) with links to the other dashboards. Even if I was able to set tabs, I'm not sure how well that would work because as soon as you click on something, the tab changes and the only way to navigate back to that tab is to search for it again. The ability to customize is great, but this is too much for end users. They need to be able to login and see what they need to see to do their job. Please feel free to reach out for more information on this issue. As of now, I feel the new Workfront Experience is going to be detrimental to our end users ability to use the product. Thanks, Sarah Sarah Nau Dominium Inc.

I agree with Sarah. We have very few (if any) users using Home. We rely heavily on custom dashboards and that's what users have been used to for years. Being able to direct attention to the most important tasks is our goal and without these custom dashboard tabs, users won't be able to navigate Workfront with ease.
