"Success" confirmation popups in the New Experience.....annoying!

Avatar

When you (e.g.) delete a project or edit a report, the system displays a popup box titled "Success" which you have to manually dismiss by clicking on the X on the box. This adds extra unnecessary clicks and I'm pretty sure this will frustrate our users (especially those heavier users) once they start using the New Experience. I really don't see any benefit to this being displayed, but if it really must be, can Workfront please make it disappear automatically after a second or two, without requring an extra click. Totally agree, David! I left that very feedback via the link in Experience. Hopefully Workfront takes notice. 🙂 Sheri Whitten

I recently spoke to someone at Workfront, looking at some possible new features and a question came up about that "Success" box. I said I thought it wasn't necessary, especially with things like deleting a task or saving a form where you could easily see that it was successful.

I've noticed a few changes around the success popup. One of those is that it does eventually fade over time, so one of my comments was that it needed to fade faster if it was a success popup but it was the right speed for a failure popup. The other is that where it is positioned tends to obscure the global nav bar. I've noticed that there's been recent movement to position it below the bar, and this is working better but the results are mixed: sometimes it's placed nicely and sometimes it's placed too high. So I think they are working on it, but I wish they would work ... faster. 🙂 -skye

Hi Skye - I see what you mean...it does go away on its own eventually, but like you, I'd prefer it to go away much faster and make sure it doesn't obscure anything useful. David Cornwell

I also find this annoying. It's another click to get rid of it. I would love to have the 'subscribe' back instead of the bell icon. To me the bell does not represent "subscribe" and it is easy to miss. I don't need to be congratulated every time I subscribe to a project. In the effort to streamline things, it now requires more clicks to get things accomplished, or to remove unnecessary pop up boxes on your screen. Julie Lang

I always appreciate being appreciated but I'd rather get that from my coworkers, friends, family, or cats than from my operational system of record. 😄 John J. O'Sullivan | Associate Manager, Workfront Capability | Bristol-Meyers Squibb

Agree with the disappearing element. I do, however, think there is some benefit on the confirmation message. Dr. Rochelle L. Webb, CSM Sr. Project Manager, Project Management Office MHMR Tarrant County Ft. Worth, Texas 817-569-4146

I agree with Rochelle. There have been plenty of times where I've absentmindedly clicked on something and gotten a success message prompting me to go "oh... shoot." So I would hate for them to disappear completely. I just want them to stay out of the way of other elements on the page, and potentially disappear faster. -skye

I like the "success" box, I just wish it was 1) Less intrusive (think the flash message box you see in ruby web apps - screenshot attached) 2) Dismissed automatically after a second or two, but also still manually dismiss-able. Taylor Jackson

I concur. I am finding this very annoying but ultimately, it's unnecessary and our users will not like it. Louise Reynolds Premier Farnell Senior Global Marketing Workflow Specialist

@Taylor Jackson say, kind of like the existing error messages in Classic (except self-dismissing?) I reckon that would work.... David Cornwell
