o365 Workfront Plugin

I've heard some rumblings that Disney will be removing the Workfront Outlook plugin from o365 soon. Has anyone heard any details on such a change? And hopefully I have bad information.... Not sure if its used at other divisions, but some of our users do leverage. Including :-) cheers, John John Seitz ESPN - System Admin IT

I have not heard that, but really hope it is not the case. It's one of the best features of Workfront and I use it daily. It took me a while to figure out how to resolve the "cannot display content in a frame" error when using the add in on the locally installed Outlook application. Once I got past that, it became one of my favorite Workfront features. William English

We have toyed with the Office 365 plug in but cannot seem to get to work with SSO. I was planning on submitting a ticket to Workfront Support. Does anyone have an idea of a point person at Disney to confirm if that plug in is indeed being removed? Tim Watts Disney Institute

Hi Tim, Try the attached method, and it should get you up and running in our SSO environment. Not sure who in Disney is responsible for the decision to enable/disable the add-on, but it is working for now. William English

Thanks for the feedback -- I'm looking into as well. On my end we have a decent amount of people who also find value in... including me. We have been seeing some oddities though with SSO esp on local installed client or Office 2016... Web client Outlook works though. John Seitz ESPN

Thanks for those instructions. We are on Macs running Outlook for Mac. I was able to get through the steps but the plugin seems to lock up when signing in. Tim Watts Disney Institute

From what I've gathered - it seems the plug-in only works for most users via the web based Outlook app. If you try via a local plugin used on Outlook it will fail. With the reason being that Workfront's SSO/SAML module found in the Outlook plugin isn't "secure" enough for Disney/ESPN. But the web based outlook doesn't face the same issues as all of the data is self contained in your browser.... I'm working with my SSO manager here at ESPN to write up a feature request to Workfront. To be clear - it's not an issue for anything but the local Outlook plugin as it works differently. Workfront is secure! Any questions please let me know John Seitz ESPN
