New Lists Announcement Interacting with lists is a big part of working in Workfront. In a bid to make that process more effective, we are happy to announce the release of a new list solution, which is largely aimed at improving the performance aspect of interacting with lists and allow our users to manage their work in a timely manner. The performance difference will particularly be noticeable when working with large sets of data. Apart from the improved performance, we also introduce a fresh look and feel to our lists, as well as several usability improvements. What is Included in the March 21 Beta? The first version of our new lists is available only for the Projects list under Projects Global Navigation Area in your Preview environment starting with our first beta release of 18.2. This includes the Projects I own, Projects I'm On, and All Projects lists. It supports all main list features, including sorting, grouping, selections, keyboard navigation, inline edit for all field types, conditional formatting, text mode. What Am I Expected to Test? We highly value your early feedback, as it will allow us to make any necessary changes and provide a better solution in a timely manner. We would like to hear your thoughts on the following features: Performance of list interactions when viewing 1000+ projects on a single page, including Inline edit activation Moving from field to field as you inline edit Collapse/ expand groupings Scrolling the list Selecting all or individual items etc. Any deviations you notice from the current lists functionalities. Any improvements you'd like us to add on lists. How Should I Report My Feedback? We would appreciate it if you or your end users with different roles could spend some time to do some of daily work in Preview and provide feedback. "https://survey.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_55e3hI1DVa4xECp"> What if I Have Noticed a Problem or a Bug? If you have noticed something that is not working as you would expect, excluding the exceptions we have listed below, please submit a support ticket and indicate that you have noticed this issue in your Preview or Sandbox environment. Exceptions Below are the features that are not available in the March 21 Beta version and will be added with upcoming beta releases: Resizing columns Reordering columns Icons will not be supported in the new lists (not including the conditional formatting icons). Hi @Trae Winterton , We have a volunteer group of feature testers. I'd like to let them know when their feedback is expected. Can you let me know when you would like to hear back from us? Barbara Sedlack BMO Financial Group

Hi Trae, I've submitted my feedback via the system, but thought I'd paste it here too as there are usually some good points drawn out through community discussion. In summary, great work so far! There are a couple of improvements needed before production though. The good points: 1. Inline editing is much faster to get in and out of fields. 2. List checkbox selecting is vastly improved. You no longer run the risk of deselecting other selections if you click just outside of another checkbox. 3. Collapsing/expanding groupings is MUCH faster. 4. Scrolling through the list of 2000 projects is fast. Areas for improvement: 1. After in-line editing a field and saving it, the screen refreshes and scrolls a bit, causing the users to lose the position of where they were editing. Sometimes it jumps back to the top and other times it just scrolls a bit in the list. 2. Users reported that the status icons are missing. I note that the exceptions say that 'Icons will not be supported in the new lists'. Is this final? Users will be unhappy with this as they rely on the status icons to easily see a variety of info in the one field. Thanks Regards, David David Cornwell

Hello! Thank you so much for your readiness to review and provide feedback on the new lists! This will help us fix any discrepancies before we go live. I'm the Product Manager over Lists and Reporting, and am very interested to hear your thoughts. @Barbara Sedlack , some features (column resize and reorder, icon fields) will be added over the next Beta releases, but the main lists functionality is already in Preview, so your team can check it. @David Cornwell , I've logged an issue about the list position change, so the team will look into it. As for the status icon fields, that part is still in development and will be added soon. Should you or any of your colleagues like to provide more feedback, please feel free to use "https://calendly.com/lilitmkrtchyan/lists-feedback">this link to book a call on my calendar. Or you can send me a message at lilitmkrtchyan@workfront.com Thanks again! Lilit Lilit Mkrtchyan Workfront

Hi @Lilit Mkrtchyan My Preview site doesn't have the Give Feedback button... What needs to happen to make it appear? In the meantime, I have a couple of things to add: The changes to the default column widths is my biggest issue... Even narrow columns are wider now by default, leaving less screen space for columns that actually would benefit from being wider. For example, date columns take up a lot of space. Meanwhile, columns that contain tonnes of text are almost the same width as the date column, making the information very hard to read. I applied a group to the list and the default view was to collapse all groups. I'm not sure I like that as a default but I understand that if you're looking at a huge list, that would be preferable. The thing is, our users' do not have massive lists. With the group applied: Similar to @David Cornwell 's issue -- I scrolled down the collapsed groups and chose one to expand -- when I expanded it, the screen automatically scrolled me up to the top so I had to scroll down again to find the group I expanded. While I agree that navigating and inline editing large lists is much improved, we don't often work with large lists in our instance. I do like that now projects are multi-selected when you just click on the list space. Barbara Sedlack BMO Financial Group

Hello, Barbara, Thank you for the feedback! It's strange that you don't see Give Feedback button. I'll try to find out what could cause it not appear for you. My team is aware of column widths and screen jumps, and is working on a fix for those problems. As for the collapsed state of groupings, we've made the change based on customer requests. We are planning to release it with default collapsed state, see how it works for a while, and then decide whether we want to keep it permanently. Thank you again, and please feel free to contact me with any concerns or requests around Reporting and Lists. I'll be happy to jump on a call anytime and hear a bit more about the usage of those areas in your organization! Regards, Lilit Lilit Mkrtchyan Workfront

Hi Barbara, Will you please check that you don't have an ad-blocker on that is blocking Pendo? Pendo is the tool we are using to gather the feedback, if it is blocked the feedback button doesn't show up. Thanks, Mandy

Hi @Mandy Anger I don't think that's the issue. We tried accessing Preview using Chrome on a mobile device and the button is still missing. Also, on our Live site, I can see Give Feedback when on the Home area, but it's not there on Preview. Thanks, Barbara Barbara Sedlack BMO Financial Group

Hey, @Barbara Sedlack Can you check now? I've been told there was an issue with the Pendo integration which now should be resolved. Thanks! Lilit Mkrtchyan Workfront

We've found a heavily broken project list view when using advanced reporting like shared columns and other advanced reporting in for the views. I've attached what the view looks like current production (18.1) of a very advanced view using multiple custom coded columns as learned in advanced reporting courses and shared columns. We've taken advantage of advanced reporting techniques in most of our views in projects, so we would be very concerned if it went into production as it is today this. This is exact same page and views -- Production vs Sandbox as it stands today. We've had a mixed reaction to the groups being collapsed by default. Some users love it and some users hate it. I was asked if it could be sticky or if there could be a setting established in the view whether groups were collapsed or expanded by default. Also, it was asked if we are going to be collapsing groups, then can we extend the number of results on the page to be 5,000 instead of 2,000. Matt May Stream Companies

Hello, Matt, Thanks for the feedback! Can you please submit a support ticket so the team can troubleshoot and fix the problem? The grouping state is managed at session level now, so if the user expands the groupings, logs out and in back, the grouping state is reset to collapsed. We don't plan to add any setting for it, but will watch for user feedback after we go live to decide which state we want to keep as default. As for the number of tasks, we don't plan to raise the limit due to performance concerns. Thanks again! Lilit Lilit Mkrtchyan Workfront

Hi Lilit, Unless there's a performance reason why you would need every user/instance to use the same collapse behaviour, I would definitely be behind a move to make it into user/instance configurable. As for feedback - I really like the new UX but I don't like the blue used in the percentage complete boxes... :) Jamie Hill JLL
