Hey there, I'm Nate Bagley, Workfront's Community Manager. My job is to make sure that your experience in the Community is an awesome one! I want to make sure you feel supported, heard, and empowered to make the best of your experience with Workfront. If you ever have any questions, I'm just an email or phone call away. You also have some incredibly kind and knowledgeable mentors (other Workfront Users, just like you!) who have volunteered to help you get your bearings, lend you support, and answer your questions. You'll find an introduction to each of them in the first few comments below. Please to add your own comment to introduce yourself! Tell us: Your Name Your Role Your goals with Workfront over the next few months How we can be the most helpful to you in this group One last thing... I've set up a thread called "https://community.workfront.com/p/fo/st/thread=1405">Everything You Want To Know About Launch Group that you need to take a look at if you're new here. hi, I'm Skye (one of the mentors), and at work I'm my company's Workfront system administrator. I work Monday to Friday and I'm on Pacific Time. I was present during my team's work in putting their process down on paper, and I'm the person who was instrumental in implementation 2 years ago. Today I spend a lot of time trying to figure out ways to continue to streamline our process, make people's [Workfront] lives simpler, and create metric reports that prove our worth to the company. My goals with Workfront over the next few months (and possibly the rest of the year) is to really get some clear understanding for what our proofHQ (premium) integration can do for us, work around the limitations, and work with the proofHQ team to direct improvements in a way that will net us a product and workflow that is usable for us. Currently advanced features aren't something we're willing to work with due to lack of visibility within Workfront. Cool implementation tip: sitting down with your key users and walking them through a sample scenario project from start to finish. There's no substitute for making the time to create a project, reviewing the different alerts, seeing it actually show up on the reports you created, and giving people the space to say "oh... that didn't quite work the way I thought it would...." I also find I tend to function better if I see something and then think about it for a few days, so scheduling a few test runs helps those of your team members who like to do the same thing  -skye

Hi, I'm Melinda Layten and I'm a Senior Consultant in Work Management Improvement at CapabilitySource (an awesome Workfront Partner). My goal for the next few months is to help my clients get the most out of their Workfront investment. I specialize in reporting and custom calculations. Text mode rules! To me, the most important consideration when designing your Workfront forms and processes is to start with reporting in mind. What information do you need to classify and understand the work your company is doing? It is really hard to report on information stored in a big paragraph field, easy to pull out the information in a radio button. Finally, don't be afraid of dashboards. You can put a dashboard on any object that has custom tabs. Any reports on that dashboard will apply only to the object like a project that the dashboard is opened in. This is a great way to put system fields and custom fields side by side. And to simplify a complex custom form into just the data you need to get the job done. -- Melinda Layten, Senior Consultant Work Management Improvement CapabilitySource Phone: (484) 505-6855 site: "https://www.capabilitysource.com" www.capabilitysource.com email: "mailto:melinda.layten@capabilitysource.com" melinda.layten@capabilitysource.com<

Hey Nate! I thought I was joining the LUNCH Group....what's this about??? Just kidding... My name is David Cornwell, and I'm the lead for Workfront within Pentana Solutions. I am based in our headquarters in Melbourne, Australia and am part of our Project Management Office. Pentana Solutions provide software and related services to the global automotive retail and distribution industries, along with a few other specialised areas. We implemented Workfront, starting in September 2015 and have completed our main rollout to around 220 users. Having said that, it is still early in our journey with Workfront. We are currently focusing on: Building integration with our accounting and support systems, along with a few other integration-related activities (I'm using Azuqua for most of it and I'm active in their community site also). Enhancing user utilisation, efficiency, and reporting. Testing new Workfront features prior to implementation, including providing feedback to Workfront's product managers. There is so much you can do with Workfront. The ability to create custom data fields and reports means you can do most things you can think of. With this in mind, when approaching your own implementation: Review existing work management processes, and identify those that rely on emails, spreadsheets, and 3rd party products which serve a limited/single purpose. There is a good chance that you will be able (at some point) to replace these with Workfront. The goal being to have as many people using Workfront and collaborating AROUND the actual work, rather than using disparate systems with limited visibility. As already mentioned, try to start with the reporting output in mind so that you can build your setups around it. Having said that, it is inevitable that you won't discover everything up-front and this is OK because it's relatively easy to change things although it is best to start simple and involve your users in testing and review of the reporting outputs, well before you attempt to go live. There's loads of other tips that I and the other mentors will be able to share (including stuff that we take for granted about Workfront and forgot that we even had to learn it!). Use this Launch Group and the wider Community in general as (for me at least) it is the best resource available when it comes to how to do something. Someone will have been there before most likely.... Cheers

Hi, I'm Martin (a Mentor) and I am an IS Project Manager based in the UK. I am the Company's Workfront Product Owner. I was the Project Manager for replacing our existing PPM solution and we chose Workfront 2 years ago. today as Product owner I ensure that Workfront is running smoothly and it continues to be adopted throughout the firm. Main goal is to implement sensible notifications and to continue with ensuring Workfront fits our purpose. What would I tell myself if I went back in time to our initial implementation: Don't do it in 3 days, from start to finish (that's a story for another day) Don't assume that everyone is comfortable with the change Be careful who you give reporting rights to or the number of reports will grow exponentially. What I see as my role here, to support and provide guidance through experience. To share ideas and where I can solutions to challenges and to learn myself. ohh and welcome to the community.

Hi, I’m Aaron (mentor) I’m a Sr. Designer With Gentex Corporation and our Workfront Admin. My back ground is in product design and data management, so I think I have little bit of a different perspective. In Workfront I’m responsible for our Custom Forms, Templates and Reporting. We started using Workfront in July 2016 and are continually refining our processes. We started off with a ridged set of procedures, so we’re been spending a lot of time formatting Workfront just how we like it. As we expand our use of Workfront I’ll be building more Reports and Dashboards (possibly with some API integration) that will our users more information faster than ever. What I hope to get out of this group is the ability to share what I’ve learned, like how we figured out the 9/80 work week time reporting, and how we use Timesheets. I also hope to hear about what everyone else is doing and how challenges I haven’t even thought of yet are being overcome. Thanks everybody and I look forward to all the new things we’re going to learn in this group. Aaron p.s. The picture is coming….

Hi Everyone, I'm Mini Sinha. I work as a Project Coordinator at Excelsior College and I'm one of the mentors in the Launch Group. My supervisor and I are the co-system admins of Workfront. My goals in Workfront mostly revolve around getting a team that we recently onboareded into Workfront to a place where they're more comfortable in the system. My other major goal is to get our external Website Redesign project mapped out in Workfront. I wasn't at Excelsior when we first implemented Workfront, but I joined soon after. I helped get our Marketing Team set up in the system and helped them build out their request queue and map out and maintain their process, now we're doing the same for other teams that we've onboarded including out Communications/PR team and our Analytics and Decision Support team. As a sys admin, I have my fingers in many pies but some of my favorite things to do in Workfront is build out request queues, custom forms, and reports.
