Logging In As User

Avatar

Level 8
Apologies if there is already a thread for this. Right now only us Sys Admins are enrolled in the new experience in production. On Friday I was assisting a user with an issue she was having and logged in as her. When I logged in as her it logged me in to the new experience even though she is not enrolled in the new experience and never has been. I'm not sure if this is working by design or if something was flukey here but I figured I'd mention it. Mohini Sinha, CSM Project Coordinator Excelsior College

Hey Mohini, I noticed the same thing. I had to unenroll myself from the new experience and then log in as the user in order to see the classic experience as them. I assumed that's just how it was supposed to be working, but I'd also be interested to hear if that's not the case. Kirsten Heikkinen Trek Bicycle Corporation

Hi Kirsten, I'm glad I'm not the only one! I can't imagine this is how it should work. And it if it is, it's not a very good design. If people are supposed to be able to work in the new experience while others work in the old experience, it's unhelpful to sys admins to only see the view that they are registered for and not what the customer is seeing. I agree....as a sysadmin I want to see what the users are seeing. Hope this is changed as it would be annoying to have to unenroll myself before logging in as another user. David Cornwell

Hi everyone, Thanks for starting this topic and sharing your feedback! I can confirm that it is not the expected behavior and as an administrator when logging as a user you should see the interface the way the user does. That is the way it works already on Preview environment and Production will be updated accordingly. I hope that helps and sorry for any confusion. Gevorg Kazaryan Product Manager Workfront

somewhat related - maybe it's already mentioned though didn't see it. When logging in as a user in NE, if the user hasn't logged in yet you are shown the intro training session. as the system admin I don't want to skip past it - and not have the actual user miss the opportunity. It would be nice to have an option of remind me next login vs skip? OR not show it at all when a admin logs in as. John Seitz DTCI | Disney | ESPN

Hi John, This is a great idea and something I will take back to see if we can change. For now, the walkthrough tour is always available in the Resource Center by clicking the Help > Get Started. We will be keeping the main walkthroughs and training content always in the Resource Center so that your team can view anytime they would like. Josh Boston Workfront

I am in the new experience, just logged in as a different user, saw the new experience under that user's log in, but got an error when I tried to search a project. Sue Johnson RBC Wealth Management

What's the error you're getting? Do you have the verbiage or a screenshot? Kirsten Heikkinen Trek Bicycle Corporation
