Activity Booklet

Level 9

After the second course, I dug into the activity booklet and immediately kept going to additional activities, that were not about Groupings. I think all the activities are great - but do we risk confusion with all the activities in a single booklet?

Should there be a "Success - you've completed the Grouping (or whichever) activity, move on to the next learning module" type statement? Basically STOP now and go watch another video. Or is it intentional, to have a full "basic report creation" class booklet covering all topics so that students who prefer not to watch videos don't have to open multiple documents?

I can see the logic in both of these directions.

This is a new thing we're trying with the activity booklet. I appreciate your feedback and hope others will chime in. I'm sure we'll be talking about this in our brainstorming sessions as well.

Here are my thoughts on it.

  1. I really want people to do hands-on activities so they can learn the material well, and feel "enabled". Especially in a topic like reporting, we don't want people to just learn about reporting, we want them to be able to build reports for themselves.
  2. After we created all the activities for the videos, someone had the idea of putting them in a booklet. I loved the idea for one main reason - so when you were done with the training you had this booklet of examples of everything in the training. Weeks or months later, when you needed to create something you learned about, you could find an example with step by step instructions to help you in creating something similar. It's much easier to browse through the activity booklet than the videos.

Since this is a new thing I'm sure there are lots of improvements that can be made. I'm anxious to get ideas from you and others.

Thanks!
