Re: Completing Task from other process parth_pandya - Adobe LiveCycle
Hi Vikram,I think you are looking at creating either a custom DSC or writting the logic in script component. The LiveCycle api references given in this thread will help you to write this logic. When the task is assigned to a user you should only complete it with the custom dsc or script. LiveCycle SDK help has examples that will give you a good start point. When you'll complete the task the process will move to next step in process. You will not need to worry about which user has that taks as the A...

Re: Completing Task from other process parth_pandya - Adobe LiveCycle
Hi Vik,I think when the scanned document is dropped in the watched folder you will need the metadata put there as well. May be you can ask the file name to have blahblahblah_taskid.pdf as the naming convention or the xxxx.pdf and xxxx.txt files are dropped there and the .txt file has the task id and your watch folder is looking for .txt files as the trigger. The other way I've solved similar problem is through email endpoint. Just before the task creation you can send an email with process id and...

Re: LiveCycle ER Diagram parth_pandya - Adobe LiveCycle
Hi Pushkar,I've detailed understanding of how LC works so I wasn't trying to find out the complete architecture of it from the database point of view. The intension is to get the relationship information in the ER diagram so I can send it to other guys to get some reports generated on LC data. I get your point that Adobe can change the database schema anytime with patches or new version of LC but without this complete ER diagram the team working on LC solution isn't scaling properly.I've tried vi...

Hi All,Has anyone created/found ER diagram for the LiveCycle tables?I couldn't find any so started reverse engineering via Visio but it didn't do a good job as the foregn key constraints aren't enforced onto the tables.Any thoughts/pointers?Thanks,Parth

Re: Need to pre-populate and Extract data from static PDF form parth_pandya - Adobe LiveCycle
Hi Eric,The easiest is to use SetValue operation to assign your document variable content to the variable that holds the xdp. Once you have that then the usual pre-pop will work and once that's all done then use SetValue again to put that content into the document variable.cheers,Parth Pandyablog.pandyaparth.com

Re: Custom Render service is called only once, why? parth_pandya - Adobe LiveCycle
Hi Yan,Are you using the same 'form' variable in user step that you used in first step? I would suggest that you put the Variable Logger as the first step in your render process to check if it gets called several times or not.Parth

Re: Possible to decode base64 document contents to XDP? parth_pandya - Adobe LiveCycle
Hi Ray,In your form if you have bound the webservice in Data View tab then you shuould be able to pass that token as part of the web service request data. By doing this you are putting the token as the form data so you might have to populate the value in a hidden text fields in the form and thus the value gets stored there but is not visible. To answer the base64 decoding issue, you may be able to decode the data via java api. Have a look at package com.adobe.idp.common.util.Base64 class in LiveC...

Re: Watched folder log parth_pandya - Adobe LiveCycle
Hi,I thought of using file read->append text->file over-write functionality in a short lived process. This will work fine for creating a custom log file provided that you consider following:- This needs to be a short lived process or the database will grow a lot.- You should clear the log file after it reaches certain size or it will be too slow down the track.I've a sample lca which I created to achieve this and i'm happy to share. To do this logging properly I would suggest that you create a ta...

Re: Pros/Cons of embedding schema to form parth_pandya - Adobe LiveCycle
Hi,How ever you can assign the schema to your xfaForm variable via workbench itself. So rather than loading the schema from the form it will be an upload via file system browsing.Based on the embedded schema the LC server was generating blank xml in form and render process on LC server was also passed a blank xml. Things have changed slightly in recent version(at least that's my observation).regards,Parth

Re: Maintaining state within a PDF document parth_pandya - Adobe LiveCycle
Hi Ray,If you are rendering the form via livecycle server then this shouldn't be that bad. When an xdp file is rendered (template and data xml being merged) it still holds your schema binding. In your workflow if you have a process variable that holds the form then drilling down into the xml field via xpath expression and updating it with setValue component should change the state in data xml.And the next time the rendering happens it should show you the form in that state.regards,Parth Pandyaht...

Hi,you can get the form data via calling xfa.data.saveXML(). This will return you the xml data for the form. I think after that you should encrypt it via some custom algorithm before sending the encrypted text as part of email.hope it helps!regards,Parth Pandyablog: http://blog.pandyaparth.com

Re: Set XML attribute from SetValue using Xpath parth_pandya - Adobe LiveCycle
Hi,I think you have put correct options. Here are my preferences in easier to harder order.4. Dont use attributes, only use elements2. Create the ID attribue ahead of time, and just leave it blank ( This has to be done outside of orchestration or you'll be back to square one) (But you can always use option 3 for this to make it simpler)3. Do the manipulation and coerce to xml1. Use a dsc to do xml manipulation. I know XSLT can do this but I find XQuery component much easier to do xml manipulatio...

Re: Set XML attribute from SetValue using Xpath parth_pandya - Adobe LiveCycle
Hi,I think you are right. The setValue will create the element if it does not exist. BUT that's not the case with the attribute. I also couldn't get the setvalue operation to create the attribute. In your last post what are you trying to do? Do you want to assign attribute value to Date element? Creating ID element as child element of Date still has the same issue when you want to create element attribute on at runtime.

Re: Exception event startpoint is not called parth_pandya - Adobe LiveCycle
Hi Jasmin,I'm trying to catch all exceptions. I've put the generic exception event as the startpoint and expect the orchestration to get kicked off when the exception occures in any process. This are the observations so far:- The exception startpoint is working fine only for the Short Lived processes. So if a short lived service throws the exception then the start point in my orchestration works fine and the remaining orchestration is executed.- But I'm not able to capture the exception details i...

Re: Development options for LiveCycle (or LiveCycle like functionality)? parth_pandya - Adobe LiveCycle
Hi Craig,Every service that LiveCycle exposes can be invoked as webservice. If you just think of the development then you can use LiveCycle process design tools and you wouldn't have to code in Java to create new services. But you don't have options in managing LiveCycle server. It will require J2EE infrastructure but you have options between jboss, weblogic, websphere...Have a read at below URLs about invoking LC services vai .net. Re: Working with attachments parth_pandya - Adobe LiveCycle
Hi Michael,For the first user step you should select 'Copy from previous task' option for the attachments rather than the list. This will give you the attachments that somone attached while starting this process via task manager endpoint. If you want to use List variable from the first Use step onwards then you should configure that List to store attachments coming out of that User step and then after your subsequent user steps can have list variable configure for the attachments.regards,Parth

K let me guess!! 80% of the time this turns out to be due to file being saved as Static PDF. Try saving that file with another name as Dynamic PDF and see if that makes it to work.BTW - Did you try my sample pdf file? Does it work for you?
