You have options, but there will be limitations. We faced similar problems before, and the main problem was how to use the XFA/XDP designs in an alternative Designer. You can find an alternative, but you have to live with the following limitations: 1. Re-design from scratch all the designed forms based on the newly chosen designer tool2. Cannot use the designs for a Dynamic PDF and Data Entry.3. Use the designs to render the output in static PDF only. Dynamic results are limited only by the new ...

My agency is using a Microsoft CRM to house all the data on clients. How can I make my LiveCycle forms connect to that CRM to populate information from the CRM and then back to the CRM once the user fills out the form?

I have a client who appreciates being able to fill out forms onscreen but has many users who will print out the form and handwrite in all the information for large narratives. He wants the text fields to expand and wrap correctly if the form is used on screen, but to contain lines for the narrative when printed out and filled in manually.Does anyone know of a way to do this so it displays correctly within a text field? In playing around with the text field, I designated it with "Custom" chosen a...

Have you tried placing the "Page n of m" field in master page and then add its value to the Barcode?

Hi,the PDF417 barcode in Designer is a read only solution that cannot be updated at runtime.I'm have build a dynamic version of that barcode you can buy.It allows you to encode your data a runtime without any additional Reader Extensions or so.If your interested, send me a PM.

I have a form that will be scanned and I need the pdf417 barcode to automatically generate the Page 1 of 12 or whatever the count will be. I have tried using global data with the "Pages" text but that hasn't worked. You can't make a Collection list with the floating fields of CurrentPage and PageCount so could someone please offer a suggestion as to how to accomplish this.My form has two master pages so I have one of those barcodes on each page. I guess I'm not understanding well enough how to do this. We have individual fields on the form, one each for name, street address, city, state, zip code and case number. How do I make that one QR pick up the data from each field as the user enters the information or would I have to use a different type of barcode or do something inside the form to group those fields so that all that data is collected?

If your total is a Decimal Field set to two decimal places, that should take care of it for you. Here's my solution. (The field nfTotal has the settings pictured above.)Side note: If you just wanted to test to verify that you'll get the right answer when rounding using a decimal field, create two decimal fields--one with two trailing digits and the other with three. Set the calculate script of one with two decimals to copy the rawValue of the one with three decimals.

Saving can always be done, even when mandatory fields are empty. This is by design. And that is correct. Suppose you have a big form and 2 people need to fill it out. How can you fill out a first part and then send it to the second person without saving. Same for printing. Same for your signature fields. What I would do, is to put a "watermark" on the form that you show on preSave and prePrint if the form is incomplete. Just a static text on your form. Then the user will see that they need to do ...

My company is working with a vendor who had requested that I "flatten" my LiveCycle created pdf so as to remove the XML data and interactivity from the form so it no longer has fill in fields. After much research I found a very simple solution and wanted to post it here because the discussions that I waded thru on this forum to find out how to do this process were varied and lengthy. But in reality, the solution is quite simple. I opened my regular LiveCycle file in LiveCycle and chose "print" f...

I have a pdf that I want to password protect. I choose that option under File/Form Properties/Pdf Security. As soon as I click "ok", I find that the document now has extra blank pages. I've tried playing with the sub forms but I can't delete the extra pages. What do I need to do?

Hi,a Portfolio isn't the only option. As XFA forms live in a PDF shell you're also able to add attachments, which also can be other XFA forms. Also, here's a nice Handout for Accessibility of XFA Forms.http://www.funkanu.se/PageFiles/6133/Accessible-Forms-with-LiveCycle.pdfhttp://www.adobe.com/accessibility/products/livecycle/pdf/LiveCycle8_2AccessibilityGuidelines.pdfHope this helps.

Yet another issue that just popped into my mind is that the preprint event fires even when the print dialog is canceled. If your users cancel printing twice, they won't be able to print the form at all.I don't personally know of any way to check if the print dialog was canceled. Even moving the +1 to the count to the postprint event wouldn't fix it, as the postprint event also fires regardless of whether the print dialog was cancelled. If there is some script that can be used to check the print s...

I know this subject was kicked around for 9 pages over the last two years but I couldn't figure out an answer from all the responses.I have an employee form that I want to lock the information when the form is submitted thru an email button but I still want the supervisor to be able to apply a digital signature to the form. I tried wrapping the fields in a subform and then disabling the subform post submit. That hasn't worked. Please help.

If anyone is following this thread, I found the solution to my problem where the Floating Fields did not work. BTW, I am using LiveCycle Designer ES 4.Under Form Properties/Defaults, you need to change "Choose Target Version" to "Adobe and Adobe Reader 9.1 or later". Save the change, and floating fields should work now.
