If you create multiple Master Pages ....the 1st one will be used as the default. Then when you add a new Page to the form, you can indicate which Master page to associate with the page. This is found on the Pagination tab of the page level subform.

The j cannot be resolved in that expression becuae it is enclosed in the string. Write the expression this way:xfa.resolveNode("form1.Table1.Row1[" + j + "].Cell3").mandatory = "disabled

Do you have borders on in the individual objects that make up the cells?

Well, win some, lose some! 🙂 Since it's a relatively small number of fields, I think I'll just set up some additional text fields, and if the numeric fields aren't null, load the text fields with the numbers as strings since they've been totaled already. If the numeric fields are null, load the text fields with "N/A". Then I can have Word pick up the text fields instead of the numeric fields. Thanks for getting back to me.

If the count is <= 1, then you could check to see if some required field is null. If it is, then the row must be blank and the table is empty.I think. 🙂

Do not use the caption property of the field. Use a separate text to act as your caption and you can control each one separately.

Works like a charm -- thanks. I put it on the MouseEnter event of the button so that it fires before the user even has the chance to trigger the save. That way the user could save what they've got and come back later and complete it (assuming that the form has the Reader extensions added).

Hehe, sorry Paul. Problem probably not the right word to use for you. How about:I get the same results with the execValidate() for hidden fields. I haven't found an easy solution to this so I've got a lot of script in my form to dynamically set the mandatory status as I do a lot of hiding.Sound better Paul? I think it is more accurate now! 🙂Tom

There is a posting on one of the other threads that describes how to remove all the temporary files from the app data folders. After doing that, the problem largely disappeared for me. Try searching on the words LiveCycle and Crash and you should find the information (or just fish around in app data and delete anything adobe related).

execValidate() question - how to tell where it fails?
Avatar

I'm using the following to check that all the required fields in the form are completed before mailing.var varcheck = xfa.form.form1.execValidate();Although all the fields highlighted in red, including a selection in a radio button group)are completed. It's still returning false. Is there a way to find out where it's failing (i.e., which required field(s) are still not filled in)? Thanks in advance.

Ampersand in string causing problems in email button
Avatar

I have an application in which the email subject string is constructed out of some field values. Everythign works fine, except that if the string contains an ampersand, the string construction terminates and the emai, subject is truncated. I'd like to put a reoutine in place that changes the ampersand to an "and" in the string; however, the Javascript implementation in Designer 7 doesn't support the replace method. Any ideas on how I can do this in Javascript without the replace method? Thanks!

Thanks, but using your script, I'm getting a Javascript error that HasValue isn't defined. I'm using Designer 7, if that matters.

The variable you're setting does not fall within the scope of the xml output (it's scope is only within the execution of the form).Try creating a variable (Using File > Form Properties >Variable) and assigning your value to it (variableName.value = 1). One note of warning, you'll want to trigger the validation event every time the form is opened or your value will return to the default value when users re-open the form.

Yet another email question - multiple attachments
Avatar

_Bill_Bain_

I've added the Reader extensions to my form and it can now email the completed form. Because we want to use both the XML data (to populate a Word document) and also have the completed form as a reference, is it possible to have the button attach both the XML data AND the form to the email? Obviously, I can use two buttons, but since both the form and the data are going to the same mailbox, it would more efficient to have both be attached to the same email. Thanks in advance!

Bill, you could clear the field values with this JavaScript:TextField1.rawValue = ""; or this.rawValue = "";You also could use this in an if statement indicating when the field's presence is hidden or invisible, clear the field. This would remove the data, and should not transfer to a connected database.

OK, I got it. I used a "switch" statement on xfa.event.newText and it works fine. However, what's odd is that I used the "if...else" conditional with it, like you suggested and it worked fine as well. Why it didn't work before I haven't a clue.
