Re: Simple Database connectivity with Flex? - Adobe LiveCycle 14-01-2008
Thanks you both for the advice. Do you think you might beable to explainwhat the difference between using HTTPService calls to PHPvs. Remoting with AMFPHP?Also, will it ever be possible to handle databaseconnectivity using just the Flex SDK? E.g. somethinglike the mysql_connect function for PHP. I'm sure there is areason why it's not feasible to have something like that right now,but I haven't come across any discussion on the topic. Thanks againfor the feedback.Take care,Keith

Simple Database connectivity with Flex? - Adobe LiveCycle 12-01-2008
Hello all,I am new to Flex, and was hoping someone might be able tohelp point me in the right direction. I have been reading around onhow to connect Flex applications to a database backend, but I'mstill not clear on how it is normally done. Is this possible usingonly the standalone free Flex SDK? Or do you have to use additionalsoftware (e.g. Flex data services)? Can it be done without usingany of the proprietary software?Any advice would be very much appreciated. Thanks,Keith
