Re: Allow Publishing to Brand Portal by Non-Administrators - Adobe Experience Manager 31-01-2022
Thanks for the update. Since we posted this, we did find a way to make this functionality available via security updates rather than customization. We have only verified this functionality in 6.5. The security adjustments may not be possible in AEMaaCS.

Re: Allow Publishing to Brand Portal by Non-Administrators - Adobe Experience Manager 29-11-2021
@timothygrimes - Good question. Yes, we could do this via workflow (although to my knowledge there is no OTB workflow step to publish to the Brand Portal in specific, so we'd have to write a custom workflow step), but it seems like a poor use of our clients' customization budget to address a functionality that should be in the product. Also, while I won't say we've never built customizations to workaround to product-level security constraints, it's not my favorite approach due to the potential t...

Allow Publishing to Brand Portal by Non-Administrators - Adobe Experience Manager 29-11-2021
Request for Feature Enhancement (RFE) Summary: With AEM 6.4 SP8, Adobe introduced restriction that only members of the AEM administrator group could publish to the Brand Portal. This request is to align publishing permission for the Brand Portal with the standard replicate ACL. Use-case: An AEM Assets user--i.e. a designer or a marketer--completes work on an asset and would like to publish the asset to the Brand Portal. The administrator for AEM would like to be able to grant that user the permi...

Re: Optimize "orderable" folders feature - Adobe Experience Manager 29-11-2021
@mikeetiuPH - This is not from Adobe, but for whatever it's worth from an implementation partner with >60 AEM Assets projects under our belt, we have always set the Ordered folder option by default, including clients with tens of terabytes and millions of assets and never seen any noticeable performance impact. These implementations are mostly on AEM 6.5 (and earlier versions) rather than AEM CS, but Adobe has at times informed us that the option causes performance impacts, but we have never exp...

Re: Asset should NOT be allowed to publish without mandatory properties - Adobe Experience Manager 29-11-2021
Agreed, this is a better implementation of required metadata fields than the current approach. It is often the case that users will not have all the required metadata field information at various points in the process. The current implementation prevents saving *any* metadata information until all required fields are completed. Which puts users in a bind of having to not update metadata at all OR update with bad metadata on some required fields in order to make the update for values that are kno...

Re: View pages option not visible in pdf. - Adobe Experience Manager Assets 09-12-2020
Hard to diagnose from the information provided--is it all PDFs or just one showing that behavior? Regardless, the pages option on PDFs is often related to whether subassets have been successfully created. So you might want to look at the asset in question (if an individual file problem) or the upload / update asset workflow (if all PDFs) to see if subassets are being creating. Hope this helps,Beau

Re: Using Desktop App or Asset Link to download renditions - Adobe Experience Manager Assets 09-12-2020
It's a great request, but not currently supported by either feature. (For that matter, I'd love the ability to link specific dynamic renditions or smart crops in InDesign documents as well). Both Desktop App and Asset Link are not designed to extensible, so the best way to accomplish this would be a custom panel in Photoshop (or perhaps Bridge) that accessed the DAM and pulled the relevant rendition. We recently built an application to relink InDesign documents that were created locally to image...

Re: Nesting of meta-data tags in schema - Adobe Experience Manager Assets 30-11-2020
You can customize this via CRX/DE by adding rootPath and optionPath and setting them both equal to /content/cq:tags/YourStartingTagNode on the metadata field under /conf. This will prevent your ability to configure the metadata schema via the WYSIWYG metadata editor (if you do change in the editor, it will remove this customization), but it will meet your requirement. Hope this helps,Beau

Re: Lightroom or Capture One output directly to AEM Assets - Adobe Experience Manager Assets 21-09-2020
Hi Gary, I'm not sure why you would need 2 steps if you were using Desktop App v1 on the machine running Capture One. Instead of saving to a network drive, the user operating Capture One could save directly to AEM (which would appear as a Network Drive when they Save As within Capture One). If there is some reason this wouldn't work, then I think I'd look at a hot-folder style solution. Basically, have some simple script that runs every few minutes to look for new files in a certain folder (on t...

Re: Lightroom or Capture One output directly to AEM Assets - Adobe Experience Manager Assets 15-09-2020
Hi Gary, Desktop App v1 uses WebDAV to map the DAM as a network drive to allow upload from any system that can access Finder for Mac or Explorer for Windows machines. Should work for any desktop software including Capture One. Desktop App v2 will not support your use case. You have to poke around to get to Desktop App v1 from the Adobe download site, but last I checked it was still available and there are no plans to end-of-life v1 at present--just no ongoing development with that paradigm. Hope...
