To grab this info for PDFs, I believe the identity property loginName in Acrobat JavaScript can help. The reference guide titled 'JavaScript for Acrobat API Reference' says "The login name as registered by the operating system." I cannot provide the exact steps as I have never tried this.If this is your need, then I request some community member to showcase an example of how to implement this in a PDF form generated from Designer.

I ran into this issue on my site as well. I addressed it by forcing the PDF to download instead of open in the browser. You can force download with a few lines in an .htaccess file on an Apache webserver. Instead of making all of my PDF files download, I created a separate folder on the server just for the PDF files that don't display in the browser properly, and I put the .htaccess file in that folder (so it doesn't affect the rest of the site).Simply create a plain text file and name it .htacc...

You can programmatically split forms using LC Assembler service and use the DDX. You could extract page1 from pdf1 and create a pdf, then page2 of pdf1 into a different PDF using something similar to: To split according to Level 1 bookmarks, you can also use the PDFFromBookmarks tag.For example, More info is available in the Assembler Service and DDX Reference available at http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/10.0/ddxRef.pdf.

Great video.I've successfully established a connection to an Access database and all is working well with the form. However, I noticed that whenever the form is opened (and after approving the connection), it immediately populates the form with data from the first table record. Is there a way to stop this from happening? Reason being, I’d like to use this process for completing “blank” forms and simply pushing the data to the database. At present, I’m not really interested in “reading” records an...

I'd suggest that you pose this query for our community in the main Designer forum at http://forums.adobe.com/community/livecycle/livecycle_modules_and_development_tools/livecycle_designer_es. This FAQ sub-forum is to collect the FAQs from the main forum and is not really intended for a discussion. A query here won't get many eyeballs.

HiI have created a dynamic form with a table whose row can be inserted when the user needs additional row. However, when the form is "Submitted" back to the originator, only data in the first row of the table is captured in the Response File. All the other rows are left out from the Response File. How do I get all the data in all the rows in the table into the Response File?Thank you.

Thanks Ashish, that was helpful, however do you have one that shows dates being changed to number of months? for example:Expiration Date is a date field display MM/DD/YYYY (the DD isn't taking into consideration in the calculation since it is prorated monthly) and only 4 days can be used in the Expiration Date field: 12/31/(of current year), 03/31/(of following year), 06/30/(of following year) and 09/30/(of following year) "minus -" Effective Date also date field MM/DD/YYYY (again DD doesn't com...

Hi,This code needs to be in a standard button, but it also has a few problems. The email addresses should be separated with a semi-colon, not a commaThe line subject.toString(); doesn't do anythingThe csubmîtAs has a special "i" character. If you don't want a comma used between the fields in the subject you should use the .join(" ") to use spaces insteadTry this codevar myDoc = event.target;var address = "myemail@contoso.com; secondemail@contoso.com";var subject = [TargetFieldName1.rawValue, Targe...

And also Tour de LiveCycle was created as an 'introduction to Adobe LiveCycle' among other things. The content may be slightly dated but you should be able to find some great introductory material in there. Access it from http://www.adobe.com/devnet/livecycle/tourdelivecycle.html and see if it serves your purpose.

With Adobe LiveCycle Reader Extensions you can enable various features in PDF documents, that are available only in Adobe Acrobat Professional or Standard. This includes the ability to save PDF forms with the data users have filled in it. Reader Extensions has a simple UI, using which you can apply various usage rights to a PDF form. Apply Basic Form Fill-In usage right. Users will have to use Adobe Reader 7.0 or later.Another way to do so is extending PDF forms using Acrobat Professional. Howev...

Below is a basic example of how you can assit your form users, by reminding them to fill the mandatory fields. This condition can be applied at various events like, printing, submitting, while filling form, etc. In the following example, validation is triggered when the user leaves the form field. If a user clicks within the field and moves on without filling it, the following warning shows up.See this help topic to know more about Form Level Validation settings.See this help topic to other ways ...

In the event.target.mailDoc() function, you can pass various parameters, such as cTo, cCC, cSubject, and cMsg. Set the values of these parameters as variables in which user-entered values are captured. For example:

You can create a text box which utilizes scroll bars for overflowing text. However, you can configure the text box to expand to print all its content.Set the minH property (this.minH=) of the prePrint activity and the h property (this.h=) of the postPrint activity. For more information, see Application Events in Designer Scripting Basic guide.
