Thank you for responding. I tried this, but I think my script is wrong:if (Court.rawValue == 1){ this.rawValue = 0;} else{ this.rawValue = (Fine+PassFine)*.7;}Any suggestions.Tracy

Merry Christmas everyone.I am creating a form in Designer that includes a calculation. I need script to set the value of a particular field to zero and then exclude it from re-calculating when a particular selection is made in a drop-down list. Setting the presence to "inactive" works great, except that it is highly likely that some people using the form will not be using a newer version of reader. Is there a way to do this with script?

I GOT IT! Paul, you are amazing!!! Every time I get to the end of my rope and finally ask for help, I figure it out before I get the answer. Maybe I should start asking sooner.My problem was in the second data connection. I was still linking the second data connection to a table. I changed this to a SQL command " SELECT * FROM WHERE 0=1Then it worked! Oh, I am sooooo excited. The things I can with this. Skippyidy Doo Dah.... Thank you a million times over.

You are correct. The actual SQL statement reads: oDataConn.nodes.item(1).query.select.nodes.item(0).value = "SELECT * FROM CourtDate WHERE Ctrm_ID = " + this.rawValue;

Yes (many times) I also found a pdf example called "populating a drop down list from database" which was very helpful. In an attempt to simplify (and learn the concept) I have tried setting up just two dropdown lists, with the second one being populated based on the selection in the first DDL. I am figuring out that DDL2 should not be linked in any way to the database when it is created. Then, in the exit event of DDL1, I have the following code (without the brackets):var oDataConn = xfa.sourceS...

Thank you! Everyone working on this form has the standard version of Acrobat, so extending the form is not an issue. I have watched your video on connecting to a database several times, and it is what finally helped me accomplish this. But every attempt I make at these dynamic drop downs fails miserably. I would really appreciate your help.P.S. I should have posted this on the Designer forum not the Forms forum, but I don't know how to change it.

Hello and thank you for looking at my problem.I am trying to create dynamic or cascading drop down lists in Livecycle Designer ES2 v.9. I need a total of three drop down lists. The third DDL would provide three or four possible dates depending on the selections made in DDL1 and DDL2. The list items in DDL1 and DDL2 do not change. DDL1 is to identify the first letter of the person's last name (which is already stated in a previous DDL linked to an Access Database). DDL2 is the event being request...

Greetings: I have a developed a form connected to an Access database that scrolls through the records. The print button executes several commands to clean up the form by eliminating information that is not used. In order to the get the form back to the original condition and clear the existing record, I have included a reset button. I have discovered however, that the reset button deletes information in the database. In other words, once you hit reset, there is no going back and re-doing the for...

Form users are working in Reader x (ten). I was getting a different error message when they were using the older version of reader, so I had them update. Now, when they hit the submit button, users are getting a message that all mandatory fields have not been filled out. The user should not get this message if the subform with the mandatory field is still inactive. Any solutions?

I have a four page form developed in Designer. The last two pages are not visible unless a box is checked. If the last two pages are needed however, there are mandatory fields that must be filled out. It is my understanding that making the last two pages "inactive" as opposed to invisible will disable any calculations, including mandatory fields. When someone attempts to fill out this form (using Reader x), and they do not check the box (so the last two pages stay inactive) and then hit the subm...

Figured it out! (Of course, I could dig for days, but as soon as I post a request, I usually figure it out within 15 minutes, hmmm)In Acrobat I went to Forms and clicked the "highlight fields" button. Not sure how this got turned off, but everything seems to be working now.

I'm using LiveCycle 9 and ES2. I have built several forms with mandatory fields and these fields always show up with a red border in "preview" and in Adobe. Suddenly, this feature stopped working. Non of my forms are showing up with red borders on the mandatory fields.Only things I have done recently is to publish one form to a repository (SharePoint). Could this have changed the viewing features on all my forms?Thank you in advance for your help.

I have a form with subforms that are marked inactive unless a box is checkecd. The inactive subform has mandatory fields. I had no problem using and digitally signing this form in Acrobat 9, but in ten, if I keep the subform inactive, I get an error message when digitially signing the form that the mandatory fields contained in the inactive subform have not been filled out. Is this a glitch or is there an easy fix? Thanks.

I have a form with several tables. Much of the information in the different tables is the same. The number of rows in each table will depend on the data entered by a user. If I add a button to allow users to add a row to Table 1, is there a way to simultaneously add a row to the other tables and then bind the new row in Table 1 to the new rows in the other tables? Would it be easier to create the rows now so I can bind them, and then add script to make any blank rows invisible? Thank you for you...

Paul, you are a genius. Thank you so much. Now, my next question: My list box includes all the names in a table. In some instances, a name is listed twice because there are two records associated with the name. Is it possible to select both records for one form? I am able to select one record, but not both records.

I have tried this code on both the click event of a button and the exit event of a list box (I am not using a DDList). In both instances, I get an error message: "You must enter a valid name - try again." Any suggestions?

Hello:I am trying to find code for selecting a specific record within a database on the exit event of a field. I have watched Paul Guerett's eSeminar on this, and he gives a great example of exactly what I am looking for, but the print is so small I cannot read it. I have also reviewed Stefan Cameron's blog on selecting a specific record, but it discusses selection from a drop down list and this is not what I want. Can anyone help. Thanks.

Hi y'all! I need to create two legal forms that will always be used together, say "Form A" and "Form B." If Form A is filled out, Form B will also be filled out. Much of the information in Form B can come from Form A. I need some advice on how to create these two forms and bind the information. I could combine both forms into a single form. The problem I see is that the footers and page numbers need to be difference/separate. In addition, once both forms are filled out, they will need to be dist...

My master page text (footnotes) has suddenly stopped printing, though visible on the screen and set to visible in the object palette. Just before the problem began, I had added a print button to the master page and set this to visible (screen only). I have since moved this button off the master page b/c I remember hearing that there have been problems with visible (screen only) on a master page. But even with the button removed, I cannot get the text to print. I have deleted the text entirely an...

Nevermind - I figured it out. I just put the date variable and date code in the exit event of the dropdown with the other code so now if I make a certain selection from the drop down, it marks the checkbox AND enters the date. Cool! Thanks so much, you have helped me more than you will ever know.

See! You are brilliant! I am still having an issue however. I have put this script in the change event of the checkbox b/c there is code that marks the checkbox based on a selection in a droplist. The goal is: certain selection in droplist results in checkbox being marked and date being added. When I make the selection in droplist, it marks the checkbox, but doesn't populate the text field with the date. If I manually mark the checkbox, the date is added to the text field. Any suggestions?

This is a simple question from a newbie that I'm sure some of you pros can figure out in your sleep. Have a form with a checkbox and date/text field next to the checkbox. If the box is checked, I would like the text field to display today's date in the year 2099, e.g., 06/16/2099. I put this javascript code under the change event of the checkbox, but it doesn't seem to be working. When I check the box, nothing happens. Any ideas?????var today = new Date(); var month = today.getMonth()+1; var day...

Thank you Mr. Walker. I was hoping to accomplish this without adding another button. The script works really well in preprint; when I hit "print" all the irrelevant information disappears. I was hoping to use a similar script in presubmit, but it doesn't seem to work.

I have created a form in Designer that will be filled out and then emailed as a PDF (locked). The form includes several checkboxes. I was able to write a script that changed the presence of unchecked objects to "hidden" on the preprint event, but I am unable to accomplish this same task on the presubmit event. I am trying to clean up the form by eliminating any irrelevant information before it is submitted. Any suggestions? Thanks much (go easy on me, I'm relatively new 🙂
