I've been at this all day, with no luck.I have a drop down whose values are generated at runtime via javascript on the Enter event. This code generates the list of items from another repeatable subform in the document:this.clearItems();var vItems = xfa.resolveNodes("People.Person[*]");for(i=0; i

Hey there,I answered a similar question a while back. It's safe to ignore everything and just look at the answer Most of it was just me trying to work out what exactly the OP was asking for. Let me know if the linked answer spawns any questions.- Scott

Hey again, glad you worked it out.Just for clarification, a literal string is anything between quotes. Literal strings are just plain text. Including the name of the variable in the string does not actually cause a reference to the value to exist. The compiler just sees text, and doesn't know which (if any) parts of the text you intended to reference a variable. So when you wrote:xfa.host.setFocus("xfa[0].form[0].form1[0].#subform[0].Subform2[0].Table1[0].Row1[rowNum].TextField1[0]");if was almos...

Hey there,Last I checked, you cannot manipulate the pages of a dynamic PDF form, be that adding, removing, reordering or combining. You can, however, print to the "Adobe PDF" printer to make a static copy of the filled out form, then combine those together.- Scott

Hey there,Unfortunately, as far as I'm aware, you cannot selectively submit partial data. That being said, you can specify 'No data binding' on those fields that you don't want to be sent, and it won't be included in the xml.Alternatively, you can how the form submit itself as a pdf, with whatever locking code that you have in place to determine what is visible in the sent form.Let us know if this helps at all, or if you have any specific questions, -Scott

Looks like you used the variable as a literal string... you need to concatenate the value of the variable into the SOM expression:xfa.host.setFocus("xfa[0].form[0].form1[0].#subform[0].Subform2[0].Tab le1[0].Row1[" + rowNum + "].TextField1[0]");Note the two + around the variable name, to join it's value with the rest of the string.Let us know if this helps. -Scott

Hey everyone,I've been making Dynamic PDFs with Livecycle for years now, and I've never come across this before. I have made a form that seems to randomly become corrupted, on a fairly frequent basis. It's nothing overly complex, and most of the functionality in the form is stuff I've used 100 times before. That being said, three different users within days of release have reported that they could not open a filled out copy of this form, as they get a message saying that their pdf is corrupted an...

Hey everyone,I've got a multi-line, expandable text field that will have many pages of content. My issu is that it won't break across pages. It's not the first thing on the page, and when it's big enough, instead of splitting to a new page, it moves the entire text field to the top of the next page. Not only that, but if it has more than one page of content, the text field expands over the page footer (from the master page...) and disappears off the end of the page, without adding more pages to ...

Hello again,I just made a test pdf form, added a date field, filled the form, and exported to XML. I had no trouble importing the date values into excel. The only issue that I can think of is if the date fields in the form contain a value that isn't recognized as a date... but even then, after a warning notification, Excel should still import the invalid date as text.If you can describe the exactly what you do and what happens, I might be able to help you work out what is happening.- Scott

Sorry about that...The only other way I know of is to edit the xml directly. Add a list box or drop down list to your form. Select the field, then click the XML Source tab (next to master pages tab. If it's not there, right click to the right of the preview tab in the gray area and check off XML Source).Where it says you can manually add in items in the following format: Option 1 Option 2you can paste all of your list items into column A in an excel sheet, then put the following formula into B1...

Are you sure that you put the event on the click event? On the drop down list "Show" where you select "Click", there should be an option call "Events with Scripts". Try there, as it should show all scripts on the button, regardless of the event they are tied to...- Scott

If you want to copy/paste a list of values for a drop down or list box, the best way to do it is:1) copy the list (one item per line)2) select the drop down/list box3) Under Object Tab > Field Tab (next to the + - buttons that you use to manually add items) click the clipboard icon. That should do it for you. Let me know if you have any trouble,- Scott

Hello again,Sorry about that. I followed my own directions, and there was only one hiccup.. The form variable doesn't always like to accept the default value the first time. Double check to make sure that the variable is set to "hidden". Go File > Form Properties > Variables, click on your variable, and make sure the pane to the right has "hidden" in it. Again, it's case sensitive. The other spot where I can see a potential for an issue is where you mention that you're using two check boxes inste...

when I was first getting started, the thing that I always forgot to do was to save it as a dynamic xml pdf, instead of a static pdf. You can choose which one you're saving it as in the drop downin the "save as" wizard. If you did save it as a dynamic pdf form, andit still isn't working... let me know and i can provide further instuctuons.ps... this was sent via my tablet, and the space key doesn't seem to want to behave... sorryScott

Alright,First step is to make sure your form is set up to properly export xml data. Things to check:- All fields that will have data exported are given a specific name. You can do this by renaming everything in the hierarchy panel, or by setting the name on the binding tab.- Subforms correspond to an element group in the exported xml file. For example, having a text field called "Name" with a value of "Scott" inside a subform called "People" would result in the following XML: Scott- You can cont...

I do this all the time. If you created the form properly, being mindful of subform binding and control names, you should be able to export the data in a form to an XML format. Then you create an excel file and set the xml source to the exported data file. You can even merge the data from multiple filled out versions of the same form into one xml file. If you tell me which version of acrobat/excel you're using I could provide more specific instructions.- Scott

Hey there,The first methos that comes to mind for me is to use a formvariable to keep track of the background visibility, then have the image in a readOnly image field on the master page. Hi everyone,I've created a ton of reports in the past, and I'm now looking at creating some reusable objects so that other people can use advanced form functionality without having to learn to use scripts.A lot of the coding was acheived using this, .parent, etc. so that they can rename controls and subforms without having to worry about breaking scripts. One issue that I am having is that Some of my code looks at children controls, and references them by name (for example, I have some code that...

Hey all,I've been building forms for three years now, and I've gotten pretty good at forcing them to do what I want. One reoccurring issue is the tab order. My forms have a ton of buttons, and for the most part, I would like to be able to exclude them from the tab order. On top of that, I've seen issues where repeating subforms will confuse the tab order as well. For the past two years, I've been maunally coding in the tab order on a field by field basis. On the exit event of all controls, I inc...

Well, in my version (9.??) I can add static text to my form, and while editing the text directly in the form design pane I can highlight a portion of the static text, right click and select "...Insert Hyperlink".To be clear, this only works for static text or captions... it won't work for fillable text fields.Let me know if you don't have the option to insert a hyperlink by right clicking on selected text (you should, even in your version). Well, as I was writing the above question, I had an idea as to how I mihgt be able to acheive this... I tried it and it worked. In my master page, I he turned my entier header into a fragment. In the header is an empty text field that I have formatted to look as I want the title text to appear. Also in my master page is a "FormOptions" subform with text fields for each 'variable' such as title. In the Title text field in the fragment, in the initialize code I've used:this.rawValue = FormSettings.T...

Hi everyone,I've been looking at using fragments to help with maintaining form consistancy. We have about 25 forms which all use the same template. Our company just changed our slogan, which is included in the footer of the master page. Now I find myself having to go through all 25 forms to update the slogan. This sounds like a perfect job for fragments.I would like to have one fragment for the entire header, and a second fragment for the entire footer. My issue is that each form has a different...

Alright, I have a bit of an update.First, I want to add that with Acrobat 9 or later, my form functions exactly as I had intended. It's just the one partner organization with Acobat 8.0 that is seeing this issue.Anyhow, I went through my form paying very close attention to the 'keep with next/prev' settings. I fiddled with those, and sent a revised version off to our partner for testing. They have reported that the issue surrounding the order of the subforms has been resolved. There still is, ho...

Hi everyone,I recently created a very dynamic PDF that we've sent to a number of our partners to help with sharing data. One of our partners is using Adobe Acrobat 8 to fill in the form. They have reported a bug where filling in a specific number of repeatable subforms causes the order of the subforms to become jumpled, along with having a large number of blank pages tacked onto the end. Removing the 'threashold' repeatabed subform section puts the form back to rights, but any additional subforms...

Good morning,You could set the file to be read-only via the file properties dialog provided by your operating system. This would disallow changes to be saved to the original.I think that this may be your only option. I personally cannot think of any way to have a PDF govern itself in such a manner. If I'm not mistaken, even using pre-save logic in formcalc or javascript couldn't prevent a user from saving over the original. PDFs don't tend to let you interrupt a user who wishes to save/print/clo...
