Re: Sample barcoded form

The barcoded forms technology actually requires that you apply a Reader Extensions license to each of the forms. If you do not, the barcode placed on the form will disappear when the form is filled (on the calculate event). Much like when you put too much data into a barcode. In regards to the hand-held scanner, the 2D barcodes placed on forms are standard barcodes. Do not use compression or XML and you'll be able to scan them without issue. Tab delimited format without carriage returns should wo...

All you'll need is Adobe LiveCycle Designer ES4 (11) which can be purchased right from the Adobe online store here: http://www.adobe.com/cart.html?marketSegment=COM&#addedSkus=65209045Keep in mind that "LiveCycle" encompasses a full range of server-side products and development tools including "Designer". Unfortunately it's not included with Acrobat anymore but can be purchased alone.

You'll have to get this directly from Adobe. CC does not include Designer as it's been removed from Acrobat. Ideally if you are licensed already you'll be able to get access to the media via support. Alternatively as I mentioned AEDP will give you access to older versions of Workbench which include Designer.

If you really do need an older version of the software for a specific reason, you can still join the AEDP program (The Adobe Enterprise Developer Program - not to be confused with the short-lived ADEP branding). You can find older versions of all the LiveCycle products as well as other enterprise server products. http://www.adobe.com/devnet/aedp.html.

With ES2.5 / 3 because LiveCycle was heavily Flex dependant (via Workspace) licenses were included but with ES4 there's no longer any mention of Flex licenses. Definitely check in with your Adobe rep though. That said, if you are on the latest version of LC then I'd move over to the HTML5 based workspace and move away from the use of the Flash-based workspace.

Hi, the original specifications from Symbol stated that you could hold 2710 characters. That said, this would be NO error correction and only numeric values. So technically not viable. With proper sizing and error correction you'll be looking at around 900 characters. My presentation here is a little dated, but still valid if you'd like to find out more about how storage works: https://my.adobeconnect.com/barcodedformselearningpdf417bestpractices/.

There are two reasons why a barcode would gray out. The first reason, and the most important, is that the barcoded forms technology needs to be licensed via Reader Extensions. If you try to fill in a form that updates the barcode at runtime (during calculate and not initialize) and it has not been Reader Extended properly, it will gray out.The second reason is due to the fact that the barcode grays out automatically when it is over capacity. Even if you have a small number of fields, on average ...

One of the best practices in one of the deployment documents is to ensure that your Applications don't have more than 50 assets within them. More than that and they should be broken down into smaller applications with an SOA infrastructure in mind. I've had customers who've increased this amount for their own use slightly but always with the goal of keeping close to the 50 range.

From what I understand, you would have to create some kind of proxy yourself and then create this single proxy as your enterprise domain. As you've experienced, adding two enterprise domain servers will basically have LiveCycle create two separate repositories with duplicate users & groups throughout the system.

The compatibility Matrix does cover the details you're looking here: http://www.adobe.com/support/products/enterprise/knowledgecenter/softcomp2_0_1.pdf. Virtualization is mentioned for some specific configurations.Be sure to go into production with only supported configurations. Virtualized or not, or you will be required to duplicate any issues you have in a supported environment.

Re: Do i need to purchase Livecyle barcoded forms to decode regular barcode generated using Acrobat9pro?

The barcode is actually a mechanism that is used to retrieve data from a printed form. If you have your form inside Acrobat then you can simply use the Tools, Forms, Data Export function to extract and then possibly re-import the data from your form.If you do have a printed form that you are scanning you will need to write the process that decodes and then populates your form again from the extracted data.

The rendering of the modules and their size is actually controlled by the barcode renderer. So, the sizing of the modules will grow when there is less data and the barcode size allows. I don't believe you can access any of the properties manually. The only items I know are exposed are the error correction levels.

There have been some updates to LiveCycle since Gary's reply (2008). Today you can use the process purge utilities. Here's the Tech Guide to help you out:http://wwwimages.adobe.com/www.adobe.com/content/dam/Adobe/en/devnet/livecycle/pdfs/purging_processes_jobs.pdfLastly, from the AdminUI you can search for processes and terminate them. However, if you create transactions and then delete the processes, you won't be able to clean them using the UI. You will have to purge the data.

You can likely get past this problem by removing the service from your windows service registry and rerunning the configuration manager. Sometimes there's a disconnect between the service name and the manager for some reason. Remove the service and start again. Use sc delete from the command line with the full service name in quotes.Next, for your exercise yoiu will need Reader Extensions and the sample cert that goes along with it. You will need to extend the form before using it in the free ad...

Re: How to make QR code bigger

The trick to resizing barcodes within Designer is actually to NOT use the mouse to attempt to resize the barcode itself. Click on the barcode object itself and then resize using the height and width properties of the object. If you try to change the size using your mouse Designer attempts to chose the "best" sizing.Keep in mind that QRCode will always be square and PDF417 will always be rectangle (you can force it to be square but there would be little to no data capture).

Hi Han, The "group" assignment won't work when you need specific items tasks to be assigned to individuals. "Someone" in that group needs to pickup the task, alternatively you can pick a random individual in the group. What it sounds like you need to do is query your LDAP server for a list of individuals in the group and then send task assignments to each of them. Either all at the same time or one after the other. For the handling of the data, it depends on what people are actually doing with the...

The best option for this to be implemented is for you to create a route within the current task that reroutes the current form and it's data back to the group queue. It's a better way for you to track where the form went and who made modifications to the data. It also allows users to track exactly where the form is as apposed to with a single user in their draft folder. I prefer this type of approach as you can create separate timer events and notifications around the "draft" status.

There's no real way to export the image but for your website you can properly format them for scanning depending on the location you want users to go to by using some of the free tools out there such as http://www.qrstuff.com/. Generate the barcode, right click the image, and then use that image as a simple on your website.

Is the low-resolution printing occuring from Reader or the same Acrobat version you're testing in? Take a look at the properties of the PDF itself and be sure it's defaulting to high quality. In regards to checking the value "unlike a 3of9", can you expand on that a little?

When you use Designer to add the barcode to the form you determine which data is actually captured by the barcode itself. When you're decoding with the hand-held scanner, you'll need to ensure that the decoder itself supports the scanning of extended characters AND if it's a keyboard-wedge scanner, ensure that your keyboard is in French or Canadian-French mode or the simulated typing won't happen.
