If you open your process in Workbench and browse the services, you will find Validate PDF/A under Common->DocConverter. This service validates the pdf like Preflight.

Hi,What version of Microsoft Office are you runing? Are you able to convert a word document into pdf? The function probably uses Acrobat, so also make sure Acrobat is installed correctly and that neither Acrobat or Office shows any pop-up windows when you manually run them.

Hi,Yes,you can add functionality to validate the pdf files within your process. Just beware that Acrobat and PDF Generator are different products and may not always give the same validation results.

Hi,What viewer are you trying to open the pdf in? Check the version of pdf you are converting to in the conversion settings. Maybe the viewer is too old for that version.Maybe you could post a sample pdf?

Hi,Yes, you need to download the whole Livecycle ES2 package. When you install the product, you can select to deploy only PDF Generator. When you buy the product you can install from the same downloaded "trial" package. You can choose to buy only PDF Generator, or you can buy PDF G + additional modules in the package as you like.

Hi,I don't know exactly why they require OCR for the conversion, but it isn't really anything to worry about, and you can create your own profile to convert to pdf 1.6 and select OCR. If you still need to convert without OCR, you can do the following:Convert the pdf to postscript by using the service toPS, and then use createPDF to convert from postscript to pdf using any profile you want, and you won't be required to use OCR.Hope this helps.

Hi,It is probably going to work with Office 2010, though I have not tested this myself. Just keep in mind that it is not supported by Adobe, so using Office 2010 is on your own risk. Hopefully It will be supported in next version of LC.I don't know if there is any issue with Office 2007 and converting Office 2010 documents.

Hi,You can download LiveCycle ES2 from trial software on Adobe website and try it out. This includes other modules of LC, but you can choose to install only PDF Generator. You do also need Acrobat Pro Extended, which is also available as a trial.

You will see that Enable copying of text, images, and other content is checked even if you don't select to use a password.Daniel

Hi Andy,I assume you are running LiveCycle ES 8.2?We had a similar issue where we got an outOfMemory issue with large files. How large files are you able to convert before you get the stackOverflow error? And, when you invoke the process, do you save the file into memory of the server? Are you able to convert the failing document if you invoke directly from Admin UI?The reason I am asking is because there is a limitation on LiveCycle ES, as it runs on 32bit OS. If you convert files larger than a...

Hi,You are correct that a complete 64bit environment would solve this. The problem is that you will get the out of memory error when the file is written to memory on the server. You can solve this by creating an interface which stores large files on the server harddisk instead, which allows you to convert as large files as LC can handle without any memory issue.

Hi,I tested with a word document of 212 mb, containing 88 pages. This converts fine on my server, no pages are cut off. What kind of file, and how large are you trying to convert? How do you invoke the web service? Do you see the same if you invoke directly from Admin UI?

Hi,20mb is no size to speak of. You should be able to convert files of size 100mb+. How do you invoke PDF Generator? Did you try to invoke PDF G from Workbench, just to check? I am able to convert a word document of size 84 mb without any issue.RegardsDaniel

Hi,Is it constantly using 20-30 seconds? The thing is that first time after you start up or restart LC, some caching occurs first time you convert a file type. In other words, first time you convert a docx file, it will take maybe 20 seconds, but after that, the file will convert in maybe 3 seconds.Daniel

Hi,You have rendered the pdf as pdf/a. Acrobat/Reader will automatically view the pdf in pdf/a mode, which means non-interactive mode. You will have to open Reader, go to Preferences and under Documents select never on pdf/a view mode.Better way is to save the pdf as standard pdf, not pdf/a. This way each client doesn't have to change the preferences to be able to fill in the form. RegardsDaniel

Hi,Yes, this could be a bug in LC. I verified that conversion was ok after removing the two properties. Conversion works fine with Acrobat as well. I have still not come across any other word document with these kind of properties embedded, so I am not sure where they come from.I'd report this to Technical Support and have them investigate this.RegardsDaniel

Hi,Unfortunately, PDF Generator does not support msg files natively. As msg is a compressed file, like zip, you would have to create your own component to unwrap the msg file to html or rtf files, plus any attachments, and then submit each file to PDF Generator. In addition, you would have to implement some processes on LiveCycle to handle the conversions.I do know of a component which interacts with PDF Generator to convert msg files to pdf.

Hi,Sorry for my late reply. The component I know of is made by the company I work for. It is not publically available, but if you give me your email address, then perhaps we could discuss the possibilities there?I don't know of anyone who has created a script to use Outlook for the conversion.

Hi Rajkumar,You install PDF Generator on its own server, and you have several ways of invoking pdf conversion like Watched Folder, EJB Endpoint used for java, you can use Adobe AIR/FLEX etc and you have SOAP endpoint which is used for .Net applications. You can then convert office documents like word doc and other formats to pdf by having your .net application call the SOAP endpoint. Do you need any additional information?RegardsDaniel Wittwer

Hi,You can find information on how to call PDF Generator from .Net etc in the LiveCycle ES2 documentation: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/livecycle/?view=documentationTo answer your next question, PDF Generator is only available as one module of the ES2 suite, which is a whole different platform than Acrobat. You can download a trial version from Adobe.com if you want to try it out.Hope this helps.

Workbench ES2 is changed. By default it only shows basic settings. In the properties window, click on All, and the other settings will show up.
