Did you ever get a solution? I can’t modify our forms as they are externally supplied and mandatory for us to use. They are xfa forms. Would be so much easier on an iPad than making staff carry laptops for this task.

There may be other form design tools out there. It all depends on what you want to do with them. If you want to create Adobe PDF Forms your options are AcroForms - the are Forms that are designed pretty much any way you want to i.e. InDesign, Illustrator, Word etc. You would convert them to PDF then overlay form fields on them. This has been around since the mid 1990's and works well. One benefit is that the form can be displayed on a hand held device such as a smart phone or a tablet. Where the...

HiAs Steve says, you can't use XFA PDF forms directly on mobile devices. However, there are two options you can look at:1. Adobe has recently announced a new version of LiveCycle that renders XFA forms in HTML for tablet devices. http://www.adobe.com/products/livecycle/mobile.htmlRegards,Howard

Hi,In addition we have an example form here: http://assure.ly/gBUUXB, which highlight Howard's point about the automatic tabbing order being set by the relative x/y coordinates of objects (working from the top/left) and that once an object in a subform has focus, tabbing will work through the remaining objects in the subform before coming back out to the rest of the form. Hi.Like Niall says, it's probably possible, but like him, I would argue the wisdom of attempting this. Not only could it be very sluggish, but you also could get yourself into a nasty situation. For example, what if the user selected A in the first dropdown, B in the second, and C in the third - and then went back to the first dropdown and selected C?I don't know what you're trying to achieve, but perhaps one way to do this would be to have some validation logic at the end that ensures that they ...

HiThis doesn't solve your immediate problem, but we do have a tool that allows you to build forms and output them in both PDF(XFA), or HTML. We support several flavours of HTML, including desktop style and tablet style. This allows you to build your forms once, and have them work both within Reader and also on an iPad or other device. You can find out more by clicking the links below.http://www.avoka.com/blog/http://www.avoka.com/blog/2012/02/style/http://www.avoka.com/content/avoka/en/products/s...

HiYou may find this blog posting gives you some background.http://www.avoka.com/blog/?p=166The real problem you're facing is that LiveCycle is a very complex product, and you're seeing log messages from lots of different modules and sub-systems all rolled up into a single file. Hang in there, it will start to make sense.Howardhttp://www.avoka.com

We've had to 'dumb' the form down in Illustrator, page by page and then insert them in to the desired pdf through Acrobat using the dumb downed forms.Unfortunately, this gets rid of your interactivity. You need to recreate the interactivity (the) in Acrobat.

Well, I know from experiance and playing around with the XML of forms for a while. But to really KNOW, you could look at the XFA spec for the ui element to see that you're interested in the oneOfChild to see what the field is. Here's an excert from p. 555 of the 2.2 spec, discussing the ui element:"This element has a set of one-of properties. The choice of one-of property determines the type of widget displayed. For example, if the button property is included the content will be displayed as a b...

Hi,I am new to form designer and had the following questions:1. Assuming that I perform validation checks on my form fields on the click event of Submit button, how do I set the focus to a form field if validation on that field fails? I am using javascript2. I am using app.alert() to display message to the user if the field is invalid. This works fine. The user sees a pop up window with the message and the form does not get posted. Once the user rectifies the error and clicks submit, the form do...

Import/export a subset of data

HiI'd like to be able to import and export a subset of the data in a form. The standard xfa.host.exportData and importData appear to only import/export the entire dataset. I'd like to be able to specify which fields I'd like to import/export.I'm not too fussy about the data format of the exported file, although XML would be preferred. Many thanks,Howard
