Well spotted David. (And I'm sorry I missed it Evangelos.)This is actually documented in Chapter 8 of "Designing workflows", "Configuring Submit buttons when handling documents". It does pay to read the documentation 🙂Howard

HiWell, the exception says that the class is missing from your classpath. The file should be in C:\Adobe\LiveCycle\jboss\server\all\deploy\LiveCycle.ear, in a sub-jar called adobe-wkf.jar (which is the main workflow jar file).I'd check whether this class exists in this jar. If it's not there, it's a bit of a mystery. My only suspicion is that Workflow wasn't installed correctly. I'd try re-installing, but given that the workflow designer runs okay, it seems very weird. If it is there, then it may...

HiIn order to see the Action dropdown, you actually need to put the action dropdown in your form - asd well as a whole lot of other required widgets. You can find these in a designer template at:LiveCycleWorkflow7_SDK\Misc\Adobe LiveCycle Workflow Field.xfoand documentation in Chapter 8 of "Designing Workflows".Your second question is beyond the scope of a simple reply. It is possible, but it's not trivial. Let's take it offline.HowardHoward Treisman Avoka Technologies Specializing in Custom QPA...

HiI'm not sure why XMLSpy created the xfa:dataNode entry - this is an Adobe-defined namespace, which you shouldn't need to use (and which XML spy would not be aware of unless you specifically requested to use it?)If you just go File/New... and select XML schema, you should get a new blank schema that you can just start extending. What do you mean by "the old fashioned way"?HowardHoward Treisman Avoka Technologies Specializing in Custom QPAC development and LiveCycle Solutions http://www.avoka.com...

HiI agree with Ben, a restart would be a very good idea. I'd also reboot your machine, just for good luck - it seems that your network config may have changed since you started JBOss (I often get ping timeout errors when I disconnect my laptop from the network - even though it's all running as localhost). However, I think there's a possibility the root cause of your problem may be that you're specifying an invalid email login in the config screen, and that's causing problems. (Well, it's definite...

HiGlad that you're up and running.I haven't tried changing on the fly. I think it's fairly unlikely that it would just work, because you need to create all the database tables (at a miniumum), so you would need to re-run at least part of the config tool. You'd also need to install the correct jdbc drivers, modify the DataSource file, etc, etc.My suggestion would be to bite the bullet and re-install - I think you might find it easier in the long run.HowardHoward Treisman Avoka Technologies Specia...

HiWhy are you using the xfa namespace prefix. You should not need to use any namespaces. Here's an example of a simple schema - import this into XML spy, and then just extend it to add your own elements. HiYes, you're correct, you need an embedded schema.I suggest using XML Spy to create your schema (doing this by hand is very painful). You can download a "Home" edition (non-commercial use only) at:http://www.altova.com/download/2006/default.asp?product=x&edition=h&os=any&server=usAnother way to do this without creating a schema is to export your form as XML, and then embed it into the Init Form definition. You do this from the init form definition palette in Workflow Designer (the same place tha...

Hi MattSome QPACs have deployed properties, that you set once only when you initially deploy the QPAC. To get to the deployment properties, right click on on the QPAC in the component Palette, select Component Properties, and click on the Deployment Settings tab.HowardHoward Treisman Avoka Technologies Specializing in Custom QPAC development and LiveCycle Solutions http://www.avoka.com/avoka/qpac_library.shtml

A couple of other thoughts...1. Is the data-out-type of the init-form document or form? (It should be document if you want the signature.)2. Try using a pdf rather than an xdp as your template. (This shouldn't matter, but...)Please let me know if any of these is successful.Howard

HiIt sounds to me like the Reader Ext part is not working. (But this is just a guess.)Why don't you try getting the initiator and 1st recipient to use Acrobat rather than Reader, and see whether that fixes the problem. That will tell you whether it's a RE problem or a Workflow problem.HowardHoward Treisman Avoka Technologies Specializing in Custom QPAC development and LiveCycle Solutions http://www.avoka.com/avoka/qpac_library.shtml

Hi MattA couple of suggestions:1. Have you set the JNDI_ProviderURL in the deployment settings for this QPAC? It should be set to localhost:1099 (or your server's hostname)2. I noticed that you're using xappstore://livecycle for you content root uri. Is "livecycle" the name of your server? I use: xappstore://localhost. This is usually the correct value unless you're running Workflow on a different server to Form Manager.I hope this helps...HowardHoward Treisman Avoka Technologies Specializing in...

A small clarification. When I said:> 1. I don't install Livecycle Forms> (you get that for free with Form Manager)I meant that you get it INSTALLED for free, NOT that you actually receive the product for free. You still have to purchase a license, you just don't have to install it separately.Howard

Hi MattYou're defining the form template to use, but you're not defining the data to merge into the form.To specify this, enter "XML Input Data" pointed at a form variable, as follows:{$ serialize(/process_data/my_form/form-data/data/*, false) $}XML Input Data should probably be marked as a mandatory field, because I don't believe you can use this QPAC without having valid input data. The clue from your stack trace is the null pointer exception, indicating that some value that you're supposed to ...

HiYou'll need to render the form as a PDF before you attach it to the email. Use the RenderForm to convert the Form Variable to a PDF stored in a Document variable. Hi MattHubert is 99% right - there's no easy way to delete a component category. However, there are actually two (nasty) ways to do it. (But only if you're feeling very brave.)Either way, make sure that there are no components in the particular category prior to doing this.1. Use the ODE (part of the Workflow SDK) and define an appropriate deletion criteria on "pat_category".2. Use a SQL Query tool, and simply delete the offending row in tb_pat_category.Please note that this is not endorsed by A...

HiI'd like to be able to import and export a subset of the data in a form. The standard xfa.host.exportData and importData appear to only import/export the entire dataset. I'd like to be able to specify which fields I'd like to import/export.I'm not too fussy about the data format of the exported file, although XML would be preferred. Many thanks,Howard

Hi MattYes you can add an attachment. However, you cannot add an attachment of type Form. You have to convert your Form variable to a Document variable, and attach that. You can use the RenderForm QPAC to convert the Form to a PDF and store that in a document variable. I believe if you use the "PDF" conversion option, rather than "PDFForm", the form will be "flattened", and made non-editable.Good luck...HowardHoward Treisman Avoka Technologies Specializing in Custom QPAC development and LiveCycl...

HiA couple of suggestions:1. Please send the exception that was reported when the process stalled.2. Please download the VariableLogger QPAC from http://www.avoka.com/avoka/qpac_library.shtml - this will enable you to easily see what the values of your process variables are after running the LDAP qpac.3. You may want to use a simpler QPAC to do what you need - we have one called LookupUser that's much easier to use than the LDAP one. It's not available for download yet, because it's only in Beta...

Unfortunately Hubert's suggestion doesn't work. The Designer executable (unfortunately) does not automatically pick up any jars that exist in the lib directory. There is a relatively simple workaround, that is described in a document that you can download from our web site. Please go to: http://www.avoka.com/avoka/qpac_library.shtml, and download the SQLPlus QPAC. (You'll need to register.)In that zip file is a document called AddingJarsToTheDesignerClasspath.pdf - please follow the instructions t...

HiNot sure exactly what's going on, but I can tell you what I do differently to you (and my install does work). You may want to try to replicate what I do, and see if you have any more success...1. I don't install Livecycle Forms (you get that for free with Form Manager)2. I only use the turnkey option for Workflow - all the preceding installs I manually configure them to use JBoss.3. You don't need LDAP at all to be able to connect to Livecycle using administrator/password - ignore that part of...

Hi KarinI've been looking into the UM API, and it looks to me like it would be very difficult/impossible to create "local" users that aren't attached to an LDAP repository. (I'm happy to be corrected on this.)So I'd take the plunge and learn LDAP. If you install your server on a Windows Server, you get Active Directory for free - it's pretty easy to set up and configure. In this way, you do get what you're asking for i.e. "to configure LiveCycle UM to use the Windows OS users?"Howard
