Is there a way to make a Button cell print a single line for the border without printing the text, and still make it look like a button on the screen? By still looking like a button, I am looking for a raised border and grey background. Basically I want to set attrinutes for printing different than the display.screen attributes. I am sure this could be done with code, but was hoping for something cleaner.Karl

I have a form with tables inside tables and need to add/remove lines and entire sections of the table, but can't seem to get the buttons to work. The form can be found here: https://acrobat.com/#d=aS0xCt4bzIRGqip-HBtrXg When I open the form in acrobat and try the buttons, I am prompted to save the form, but nothing is added/removed. Eventually I need to fill in a second form with the same data, or else this table wouldn't be so complicated. Any idea as to what I am missing here? Karl

Hello,I have a Livecycle document that will ultimately be comprised of 2 Forms. The final appearance of the forms needs to match a client's form, we are trying to move from filing these in by hand. The second form contains data that is repeated fro the first. If I collect the data correctly in the first form, I can fully automate the second form.Below is the proposed table for the first form. The data consists of work accomplished by various contractors on a construction site, and could include ...

Perfect! Thank you. Niall. I also found the Shift property helpful since the commitKey property did not return the correct direction. I made the following code, changing the end to go to the correct locations based on where the user is. In some cases it would go to either direction// Declare some variables var i = this.parent.index;var i2 = xfa.event.commitKey;var testResult = 0;// Determine how the user exited the fieldswitch (i2){ case 0: //value is not set, such as an escape key, so do nothin...

It appears the exit event runs on a table's cell (type text field) whenever you select a new cell with the mouse. I have the need to force a Tab or Enter to set keyboard focus to a different cell in a different table. That is easy enough to have happen, but when you select a location with the mouse, the exit event appears to run, and over-rides the keyboard focus to the location I am forcing. Is there a way to skip the code if the exit event occurs from non-keyboard input?

Thank you, Niall. Much appreciated! The Delete button was more to make sure one could delete these outside a button in the actual row and I see I had the index wrong such that I was deleting the second row and not the first. I had toyed with using this as a hidden button if I could pass the index to the event's function.I had not thought of adding the reference to each row as a variable. It seems to work very well. For future reference to others, here is the code from the cellRemoveButton click ev...

Niall,Thank you for the response. This is one of the examples I saw prior to posting. Correct me if I am wrong, but doesn't this use a delete button on each table where the first table's button basically click's the button on the second table as well, then each button delete's the given line? I am trying to avoid doing that due to the nature of my tables. They need to appear as 1 large table and do not believe this is possible with this method since I have 3 tables next to each other.Based on thi...

Hello,I have a form that has what appears to be one table. Since I needed 30 columns (29 of them are single character fields) I had to use 2 table objects. Then I needed the ability to add and remove rows. Adding a row at the end is easy enough. Deleting a specific row is the problem. At the moment, I added a third table which has a header row and a item body row. the body row is a button with the intention of removing that entire row from the large table. This means it needs to remove the row f...

Hello,Apparently with all the valid edit patterns for a time field, if I want to enter 6 AM quickly, the least I have to put in is "06" (without quotes, of course). But if I put in "6" without the leading zero, the field does not get formatted as a time. Is there any way to force this without writing custom code? I am trying to cover the various input methods. I have tried all the available Select Types and also modified a couple to examples such as:time{h:MM}time{h}These result in an error stat...

Thank you, radzmar. That was the problem. Now the only issue is that the date and script changes are only preserved if another field is filled in before saving the form. Oddly, it seems the other field can be filled in before or after filling in the Date/Time field. Setting a hidden in the same script does not solve the problem. Note that the script is being run in the reportDate::exit event.

radzmar,Thank you for the reply. It looks like your code is in FromCalc and not JavaScript.I have managed to figure out the date part since posting. I need to use formattedValue and not rawValue: var d = new Date(reportDate.formattedValue); var reportDay = d.getDay();I do still need to force the border. I have found that I can put a border around each text item and turn the "presence" to "visible" or "hidden", but this does not hold. When I save and then re-open the form, it shows all the border...

Have you tried Radio Buttons instead? The difference is that they perform exactly as you are asking. By default, they initially display as a circle, but you can change it to a square if you need to. Here is a link to teh v9 help docuemtn on radio Buttons: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/designerHelp/index.htm?content=000351.htmlKarl

Thank you for the response, Niall. The problem with passing the object is that the row name is not consistent in all tables that will call the function. I am calling it from a cell in the row, and would want, in this case, to delete the entire row. I am trying to use a function because I am doing some other things to validate the deletion first, and would liek to avoid repetative code for each table.Karl

Another option would be to set a value on a hidden field, and use that field's value in an form intialize event to display the subform or hide it. Use the signature firld's postSign event to set the hidden field.I understand the desire to keep the form from showing something to the client that they don't fill out, prior to teh signature, but is the subform sensitive? If it is, then recognize that the client might stil be bale to see it, provided they have LiveCycle. There are probably other ways ...

Is there a way, without checking every cell in a row, to determine if at least one of the cells in that row contains some sort of data? My goal is to have a Delete This Row button in the first cell, but provide a warning message if the row contains data. Since I have a form with 8 tables that contain this button, I was hoping to find somehting like this.parent.parent._Row.hasData but that doesn't seem to exist. I am jus thoping there is something I missed.Regards,Karl

Thank you.I was able to take your script and modify it for my needs, and make the first scenario work. There are a few tricky "if" statements for when a line is deleted from the table to keep the Total column clean, but it works nicely. I appreciate the sample to get me where I needed.Note to future readers that I have to edit the XML source to remove a bunch of line breaks. The Add Line didn't work as a result, but I set a minimum number of rows to 20 and was able to play around all I needed.Re...

Is there a way to save a default path for where an Image Field first looks for an image? It can be relative to the saved path, if this makes it easier for setting. Preferably at the same level, though, but we can work with a limitation if need be. So on a Windows machine we would have 2 folders:c:\PDF_filesc:\PhotosThe PDF will be in the first, the images in the second. How can I have the form look in the second location by default?Regards,Karl S

Scott (past-tense) has the easy answer. Of course, it does not stop someone from changing the Read Only setting, unless this is on a server and the security settings are used instead of the file's properties.Another possibility COULD be to use the form's preSave event to chack for the file name and change it if the original template is open. the problem is that this probably requires a client side script file with a function to chang the file name. I don't think it can be in a script in the file...

Hello,I have a form that has a table. In the table I want to have 2 Drop-down lists in the same row. Changing either one of these will populate the other AND some text fields in the table's same row. So in the below table, selecting either of the dropdowns in the first 2 columns should populate the first 4 columns with the data associated with that item in the XML. It seems both George and Niall are specific about using the term XFA forms. For clarification: Is there a difference between an XFA form and other PDF forms? Maybe a differnce between one created with LiveCycle vs Acrobat Pro? Also , what if the form is opened in Acrobat Pro and I use the "Extend Features in Acrobat Reader..." command?Karl

Hello,I have a form developed in LiveCycle which uses a fodler level script to supply a SaveAs function. The company is considering tablets for some use, and this form would be one of hte uses. Do the folder level scripts work with any of the tablets? I would especially like to know from the android and ios sides. Maybe it depends on the functions used, i.e. a saveas would work but not a function to look up an email address?Regards,Karl

Hello,I have need to create a table which cover half of a page width and has 3 total columns, but an undetermined number of lines. Additionally, I would like the table to continue next to itself, as if in a second newspaper column, with the number of rows in each being equal. So if the entire table below represents the page, the two large blank areas would be some context, and the rest representst the table itself. HEADER1 and HEADER 1 (repeated) would be the same part of the table with the (rep...
