replying to all, not myself, thanks for the thoughts on my question. my options seem to be....1) i have asked some who can ask some about the college buying a license; i await a reply but i kinda don't think they'll want to pay more for only a couple of classes a year. if they do i 'll have to learn how to do all the new cloud-centric stuff there.so does anyone know of any instruction beyond the tuts at the adobe help site that may be useful?2) i can also push the course toward more sophisticated...

thanks for the quick replies...1) i do have an overlays exercise showing students what "should" work but it's not the same as have proof-in-hand of it really working.2) i am waiting to see what an enterprise licence would cost the school--i have little hope that they will find i reasonable. Adobe would brag if it were so, yes? and they are are not doing that.3) IT removed CC2014 from the school machines when they installed CC2015 plus i've never had much luck with indesign switching around among...

I teach a college level interactivity with indesign course and would like to be able to teach DPS again, but I don't know how to do that in CC2015. With CC2014 we could preview our work with adobe content viewer but that is now gone. To preview DPS it now seems one has to buy a commercial license first. Why is this? Students can still preview PDF, SWF and ePUB without paying more; what's different in DPS from these formats? How can students learn DPS if they can't see what they are doing? Do the...

So other than going back to cc2014 is there is no way for a student to preview his/her overlays work on a computer in the classroom? will the every be some thing to do that? is there currently a workaround i don't know about--one that doesn't involve a cc subscriptions as students often do not have a CC subscription and there is no classroom licence as far as i can tell? i'd like some advice on what to do next. even if its to give up and rewrite my lesson plan passing on DPS.

thanks for the quick reply. but preflight seems to still want a paid-for and/or published app to work. what dashboard? what i want is a previewer like the epub and swf ones built into indesign. content viewer 2014 was kinda like that; it was easy to install on my machine, more difficult to get IT do do it at school, though. is such a previewer not important to any one else besides someone trying to teach basics to would-be designers? designers who needn't become app monetizers just yet?.

i teach an interactive design course and with CC2015 lack of a previewer for dps i can't teach about a third of the course. i can preview PDF and SWF and i working on being able to do so for the 2 kinds of ePUB with mixed results--i'm a artist, not a coder. a staffer on another forum here said content viewer would be back "in a version or two" when is that gonna happen?

Glad to know I'm not alone.I used DPS as one of 3 units in an interactive indesign course, PDF and SWF being the other 2, DPS was, from the beginning, the flakiest of the 3. The techies at one site never could get content viewer to work on PCs with an institutional license and now they say they it doesn’t matter any more, because they can’t keep 2014 and 2015 going simultaneously anyway. My work around is to make the 3rd unit a fixed layout epub project. I’ve installed “adobe digital editions,” a...

my problem exactly. so there is no work around and no cc2015.1 fix in the offing, yes? the solution then is getting IT--at two colleges, no less!--to reinstall cc2014 just for me. unless of course adobe in its infinite wisdom has decided to delete more yet undiscovered features.

i teach "interactivity with indesign" and for one unit we make apps using content viewer on both PCs and tablets to preview our work and i can't figure out how to do that in CC2015. help!so far it seems that the best solution is to try to convince the two institutions where my classes are offered to keep cc2014 on the machines and this is on top of problems with getting content viewer installed to begin with... it isn't a standard install with server based licenses the techies say
