thanks but I am looking for the allocated hours to appear in the Work List specifically, not on a separate task or assignments report. 

Project Schedule mode is from "start date."   All Task Constraints are ASAP.   The project planned start TIME is 8am and the Schedule attached to the project is 8am-5pm with a 1-hour break, for total of 8 hours.   In Setup, the Typical Hours per Work Day is 8 hours.
