Yep we added more disk and then it stopped complaining about not having enough disk to operate with but then the darn thing failed saying it couldn't read one of the .tar files. Might you also know about this. I was figuring on giving up on it for now and putting in a ticket with Adobe. We migrated our AEM v5.6.1 stack from on-premise hardware to AWS as part of a major effort in 2014/2015 to re-vamp our (TE Connectivity) entire web site (www.te.com) and how all of the product catalog information is maintained and dynamically provided to the front-end (AEM). The project was very large for us so we'd hired RazorFish on to basically do the project for us but the AWS infrastructure part of it was largely on us especially at the start. We new that ordinarily you cannot take a hot bac...

We got about 350 activation transactions while my first publishing instance in the cluster was down for the 26+ hours it took to get it back from our VM group. That's not so bad in my mind so I think I'll go for misdirecting the replication agent.when we go for the second one next week. Thanks alot for the advice. I don't want to go through having to manually activate a bunch of content again next week.I'm tempted to ask if anybody else has problems with their replication agents leaving stragele...

I'm going through the process of virtualizing all of the servers in my production AEM environment. I thought if I disabled the replication agent on author I would be able isolate one of two available publishing instances in the cluster, perform the P2V process the re-enable the replication agent when I was all done and all the activation requests that occured while I had the replication agent disabled would flush through so that at the end of things my new VM publishing instance would be up to d...

Yeah, OK. That's what I thought but I've got to say I'm a little bit surprised by that given that aspects of the UI such as page authoring or still considered a preview technology as the following page indicates: http://dev.day.com/docs/en/cq/current/touch-ui/touch-ui-page-authoring.html.In fact, I feel like the whole thing could have been handled better. Why make the touch UI the default UI out of the box? This created a lot of initial concern up front with our authoring community who were imme...

I know how to configure AEM to choose the classic UI by default on sign-on but that doesn't prevent access to the Touch UI if an individual knows the URL for the Touch UI. Is there a way one can completely disable or remove the Touch UI so that it's not available even if you know it's URL?

I was asked to configure our CQ v5.6.1 authoring instance so that it would always land an author in the classic UI. I did that via the appropriate configuration change in Felix configurations. Now there are a couple of authors that want to explore use of the touch UI. Is there a way for a user whose already in the classic UI to get back to the touch UI?I have read in the documentation that authors have functionality to configure there own personal preference for their UI but it seems to me the o...

Say you want to take your publishing instance offline, do some maintenance, then bring it back online again and catch it up on any activation requests that occured while it was offline. I thought to disable the replication agent but if one does that it seems the replication queue goes with it and you don't get activations requets queued up to process when you re-enable the replication agent.I've read that is possible to configure the replication agent with an invalid target hostname:port for it'...

I have an AEM author saying LiveCopy pages have broken their inheritence with there reference copies such that these LiveCopy pages no longer appear as LiveCopy pages. The icon that would indicate a page is a LiveCopy is no longer there (its the usual one) and when you open the page properties for these pages the LiveCopy tab is grayed out.I was wondering if this sort of thing can happen w/o the author explicitly realizing they're breaking LiveCopy inheritence either by actions they take on the ...

Are there any other structures within the CQ v5.4 footprint that one can remove going forward from CQ v5.5?I handled the CQ v5.4 to CQ v5.5 upgrade but wasn't sure about what could be removed and what couldn't though I suspected a couple of areas were no longer in use. Because I wasn't sure I figured there was little harm in leaving this stuff around. That is until they've asked one of my peers to handle the CQ v5.5 to CQ v5.6.1 upgrade with me mentoring so we had at least two resources with exp...

I didn't activate my "service" user to get it to appear on the publishing instance but rather I used user management through the CRX console to create the account in the publishing instances. In all cases I added the "administrators" group to the list of groups the "service" account is a member of. The one thing I can tell you that was different about the way I created the "service" user in the publishing instance versus the way I did it in author is that in author, because I'm using the WCM use...

Thanks for the information on how to get to WCM, User Management on a publishing instance. I'd also placed this question in DayCare and they were able to tell me that I need to check ACLs on /etc/package node on my admin-like account. Apparently there is a minor difference between administrators group on authoring instance versus publishing instance as you inherit no read ACL on /etc/package node from administrators group on publishing instances. This is what prevents one from uploading any pack...

I'm trying to wean myself off of use of the admin account as the account used to connect to AEM via batch processes. One of these processes is a script that builds our AEM application out of SVN and deploys it to our production CQ instances. I create a new account I call "service" and did my level best to make it look identical to the admin account in user management. Yet I find when my script gets to the step that does the deployment and where the admin account was able to successfully upload t...
