Hi, I was able to figure it out. The best way to address was to "Get" the metadata properties of an asset in AEM and use the response to build your own from the source system
To create a folder, you need to make sure that you have access and are in the Admin group. This would require you to go into your AEM and set yourself in all the groups to start with and then try creating a folder.

I would recommend that you "Export" custom data out of your instance and see if you could use that format to "Import" the custom field that you are planning to upload.
