Greetings! My form has a repeating subform that is the last object in my form's hierarchy. I have a button that, when clicked, creates a new instance of this repeating subform. Each instance of this repeating subform has to start on a new page, so for this subform, under "Object > Pagination > After" I selected "Go To Next Page". That was easy enough. However, naturally this makes the last page in the form blank. How do I always hide this last blank page while still being able to keep my page bre...

How, if at all, do you guys get around the very limited support for XFA file types? I love how versatile XFA forms created in LiveCycle Designer can be, and I've created several very impressive forms, BUT I have to downgrade to static PDF because at least 1/3 of our clients cannot open XFA documents. From what I've found, there are some MAJOR limitations, like:COMPLETE inability to open XFA documents on mobile devices (iPhone, iPad, Nook, etc.)Inability to open XFA documents in non-Internet-Expl...

Okay, I know it's been a while since this post, but I discovered an issue with this script when put into practice. This script is in the validate event of a field within a form that a client submits to us. Having error messages pop up when the client is entering invalid dates is great because it's intended to prompt them to enter a valid date. However, if they ignore the message and enter an invalid date anyway, then when they send the form back to us, WE see the error message every single time t...

Is your form saved as a static PDF or a dynamic XML form? This will not work in a static PDF.

Completely disabling printing is an overly-complicated task. You might be better off just hiding the form if the user tries to print when all required fields have not been completed. You don't need to add a button for this. Just go to the highest object in your hierarchy (defaults as "form1"), and enter this code. Note: This is using FormCalc, not JavaScript. form1::prePrint - (FormCalc, client)if ( Text1.isNull or Text2.isNull )then this.presence = "hidden" xfa.host.messageBox("This form does n...

Thanks for the reply, Josh. This is something I had considered, but unfortunately many of the fields are open text, like street address or "Explain Your Response Above", which require allowance of spaces. This is something I could certainly use for fields that shouldn't have any spaces though. I would just need to include punctuation and special characters like @, &, and #.

Greetings!I have required fields which are set up in "pages". The user cannot proceed to the next page until the current page is complete (i.e. all required fields contain data). Unfortunately, Adobe considers blank spaces (i.e. from the spacebar) as data, and therefore this allows the user to bypass the field validation for text fields (as long as no other validation requirement is present, e.g. zip code, email address, etc). Does anybody know how to remove all spaces from a field if they are t...

Greetings!I am running LiveCycle ES3 and am trying to do the following on the click event of the "Next" button referenced below. Basically, I just need to make sure that at least one piece of data is entered into EACH section, then the user can move on, otherwise they get an error message. I was able to get it to work just fine if NONE of the sections has data. However, if they have selected, say, one checkbox in section 3a, but left everything else blank, then no message pops up. They can't con...

I am using LiveCycle ES3.I have all my content within a flowed subform set to western text. I have a border around the entire content area (X: 1in, Y: 1in, Width: 6.5in, Height: 9in), so I don't have to worry about applying borders to individual objects. However, in certain areas, the page border disappears. See below. Any idea why? I don't want to randomly assign "patch" borders to objects. That looks extremely strange, not to mention it is cumbersome to manage. Is this a glitch or did I perform...

Thank you for that. How do I make it so it counts only instances that actually contain metadata? I need to make sure it doesn't count any Field 2 that is accidentially left blank.

The user may then click a button to enter another piece of metadata (another Field 2 displays). There is only one piece of metadata allowed per line, however there is no limit to how many pieces of metadata may be entered. Basically, Field 2 is just a repeating subform with a text field in it.Field 3 is a calculated field. This is where I need to p...

Greetings!Say I have Form XYZ. I am wondering if it is possible to attach a separate form (say, one stored on my company's website) to the end of Form XYZ if a user makes a certain selection within Form XYZ. I am trying to limit the amount of places our users have to go when they have to fill out extra forms based on their selections within Form XYZ. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi there!I have created a dynamic form using LiveCycle Designer ES3. In one subform I have set up a table with a Text Field. This field is nested within the table in a row titled "Reasons" and this row is allowed to repeat (Figure 1) if the user clicks the "Add Another Reason" button (Figure 2). Figure 1Figure 2Notice in Figure 2 that the "Reason" text field has a red border indicating that the field is required.Elsewhere in my form, there is a check box. If the user checks this check box, then ...

To clarify, the document generator only fills out a few fields. The reviewer completes the rest of the form, so the reviewer would be the one making the errors.

Greetings,I am using LiveCycle Designer ES3. The target version of my form is Adobe version 8. My form is initially completed by a document generator, then forwarded to a reviewer. The reviewer will then use the form to document his/her determinations (approved, disapproved, etc) of the material the document generator submitted for review. Once the reviewer is done with his/her determinations, he/she digitally signs the document using the signature field created in LiveCycle. Once the document i...

Greetings,I am using LiveCycle Designer ES3, and am trying to perform the following actions within a downloadable PDF form:If total value of Field4+Field5+Field6+Field7 is not less than or equal to value of Field3, then pop up an error message and reject the value in Field3. Hi,I am using LiveCycle ES3. My request is simple. I have multiple date fields throughout my form. Some date fields should only allow past dates; Some date fields should only allow future dates. When an invalid date is entered, the date should be rejected, the field remain required, and an error message pop up, saying "This date cannot be in the future" or "This date cannot be in the past", depending on which field it is. As a note, I used the exact script from the demo file "Highlighting Requir...

After experimenting it appears that the issue may be related to the number of pages. In the sample form that works correctly, there is only one page. However, in my form, there are seven pages. When I edited the sample form to make it two pages instead of just one, the validation button no longer cleared fields of their highlighting after they were fixed. Any ideas now?

I couldn't get the relayout script to do anything, unfortunately. I placed it in the click event of the validate button. I'm not sure what the problem is either. Aside from changing the error message that pops up when the user clicks the validate button, I didn't alter the script from the demo file at all. As far as I can tell, my form's hierarchy is set up about the same way as the demo. I guess I'll keep fiddling around with it.

Hey Jono,I'm checking back in about the "Check form for errors" button. I got this to work great in my form. Only remaining issue I have is that after it's run by the user, the fields remain highlighted in yellow even after the user fixes them and re-clicks the button. I would like the fields to default back to their original color once the user has corrected them. Greetings,I am using LiveCycle ES3.My form has six pages, with fields that can be expanded, so essentially the form will always be six pages or more based on the user's input. I am attempting to have a subform containing a table and one row repeat at the top of each page without resorting to placing this subform in "Master Pages" section.
