I want a segment consisting of visits that are ten pageviews or longer.I have created two different versions of the segment and their results wildly disagree. Can anybody explain why?Method 1: Visit segment where Visit Depth is > 10Method 2: Visit segment where Hit Depth is > 10Method 2 has about twice as many visits and visitors, 15% more page views, and about a 25% shorter visit time than Method 1.I am pretty sure Method 1 is the right one to use, but then what is Method 2 actually including?

My tracking code is cmp=__.Note that an underscore _ separates those three parts of the tracking code. Each characteristic (1, 2, and 3) can have many different values. For example, characteristic-1 might be the publisher, characteristic-2 might be the banner size, and characteristic-3 might be the banner's message. For example, it could be cmp=hgtv_200x140_bigsaleI want to keep cmp as a long string for the tracking code report, but I also want three new evars - one for characteristic-1, another ...

I have a lot of custom segments and some need to have fairly long names, and I need to see the whole name to know which one to use. In the "Show Segments" bar, only about 25 characters of the name are displayed. Clicking on the "i" icon shows only about 38 characters. To see the whole name I either have to edit the segment, or apply the segment to the report. My suggestion is to change the popup "i" window to be expandable enough to show the entire segment name.

I'm not seeing the Time Spent On Site metric any more since things were rearranged recently. Where is it? It's one of the first-line metrics I report.

It is working fine this morning. I do have a screen shot and an export showing the absence of the visits metric (or, any metric) but at this point I'm satisfied. Don't know what happened ... I am not crazy, I know that. Thanks.

In the Device Type report, "other" is always the top Type in the Ranked view. But when changing to the Trended View, "other" isn't shown in the report at all. I haven't been able to force it to show using a Data Filter or anything else. If I use an Advanced Filter for "other" the graph line looks right but there is no metric shown in the table. The "Add Metrics" window says that "visits" *should* be displaying, but there's no metric column at all.I've been manually copying from the bar graph in ...

I don't consider this answer to be "solving" or even answering the question. Maybe gilliganondata should have asked "when are you going to update your lookups so that we don't see these any more?"

Brian, I think you're mostly right. It does happen (the segment falls off) when I navigate using Favorites, Recently Viewed, etc. However, it also happens when using View All Reports to get to a dashboard. Individual reports in View All Reports keep the segment, but not dashboards.

This is a basic question, I think. As I open up different reports, both the selected date range and the applied custom segment keep shifting away from what I had selected. Usually, the segment disappears and I have to re-select it. The date ranges change unpredictably - sometimes switching to a months-long period, sometimes reverting to a month when I had been looking at an individual week, sometimes switching to a peculiar non-calendar week set of 7 days.I'm sure there's a method to the madness ...

Also, one of our sites is double-tagged with both Google Analytics and SiteCatalyst tracking. The campaign I'm working on now puts four tracking parameters in the landing page: one that SiteCatalyst recognizes and three that Google Analytics recognizes. Google Analytics shows 40% more visits for the campaign than SiteCatalyst does. So weird.

Good idea, but that checked out okay.Still troubled by the 3x discrepancy. The client's (and the advertising team's) trust level is not good these days.

Although contacting support is a good idea, I am hoping that people who have dealt with this before can offer some insights here in the forum. We are finding that we are seeing only a third as many site visits as "clicks" reported by Bing Paid Search for example. That difference seems extraordinary.Perhaps there have been papers or previous answers to this?

I just now added and removed a segment to one of my dashboards a couple of times. I ended up going through three views of the non-segmented dashboard and two views with the segment applied. Of the five panels in the dashboard, all 5 were different from each other for the two segmented views - (6K in one segmented view, 255K in the other segmented view for example, for just one of the panels). For the views of the dashboard without any segments applied, three of the five dashboard panels showed t...

"None" may refer to internal network IP addresses a.k.a. private network addresses.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Private_networkIf people are accessing an internal version of the site through the organization's internal network (which I think might include VPN), the IP addresses can look like those in the Wikipedia article. Because people's computers in many organizations can therefore all have the IP address 10.10.123.456, it can't be resolved to an organization or geo area and will appear as so...

I have to agree with clee510 that this would be a valuable thing to have. "average clicks to page" is useless. It's the first "discovery" of a page that matters for business purposes.I've seen an obscure reporting package that was able to identify the first instance of a page in a visit. The valuable metrics were "how many clicks to their first view of the page" and "where did they go from that page, the first time they encountered it." I hope others can see the value of this.

Maybe I'm losing my mind, but didn't there use to be an uber-report called "Site Totals" or "Overview" in the Site Metrics section of reports? It contained a very important (to me) metric that I haven't been able to replace or replicate: average time per visit.I have tried using Total Seconds divided by Visits divided by 60 from the Key Metrics report, but the number I come up with is really different from what I used to get. For many months, the "Site Totals" report gave me consistent visit leng...

Hi Ben, I looked at that but am not sure it's what I'm after. To quote Danielle above: "how many visits did we have where people looked at 2 [different] products?" We'd want a histogram (# visits with only 1 product, # visits with 2 different products, etc). Alternatively, a variable that can be the basis for a segment (a segment consisting of sessions where there were 3 or more different products viewed).

The distinction between search.yahoo.com and mail.yahoo.com is important (among many others). I'd like a Referring Subdomains report, similar to what others tools have.

In certain competitor analytics products, once you set a "compare dates" range it persists as you move from one report to another, until you turn it off. MUCH better than having to re-set the comparison in SiteCatalyst every time you look at a different report.

I've seen other analytics products that show 5 at a time, but you can click an arrow to have the graph refresh with the next 5 on the list, and the next ... all the way to the end of the report. It's great for finding that one page or referrer, in say position 50, that had a crazy spike on one day that threw off everything else.
