Your best bet is to probably create an orchestration (or "process" in Adobe speak) that accepts two document parameters, calls LiveCycle Forms (or Output depending on whether you want to interactive or non-interactive PDF), and returns the resulting document variable. The orchestration will return a redirect that will point you to the document object.See Invoking LiveCycle using REST Requests, and Creating Your First LiveCycle ES4 Application.Rob

I’m using the Store Content method to store a file into an nt:unstructured node in my CRX repository. I want to add custom properties to that node. All the custom properties I add end up being strings which is inconvenient because some properties are dates and this will inhibit selecting nodes using a date range. The Sling POST servlet documentation indicates that you can provide type hints for custom properties however I can’t seem to get this to work using the Content Repository DSC.Any sugges...

I'm working with the LiveCycle Trial Appliance VM and there's a couple of things that would make working with it easier:1) Include the Less utility on the machine - Viewing logs is a common activity in LiveCycle. Using more sucks. Less is better because you can page up and page down as well as follow the log.2) Include vmware-config-tools.pl - Being stuck at the default resolution sucks when you're running the VM under workstation on your PC. Being able to run the vmware-config-tools.pl utility ...

Ouch! That's exactly what the problem is. I'm using a 64-bit OS and 64-bit JVM.Can you point me to where in the docs this is? The docs for 9.0 are not organized by product so I'm having some trouble finding it. I've checked the "Preparing to Install", the "Installing and Deploying on JBoss", the "Administration Help", and the "Release Notes". None of these mention the issue. Thanks for the help.Regards,Rob

Hi,I'm trying to configure an HSM credential under LiveCycle ES2. I've done all the steps listed in the documentation (established a Network Trust Link, assigned the client to a partition, etc.). I'm able to run the demo app provided by the HSM vendor and am able to talk to the HSM. When I try and configure the credential from the LiveCycle adminui, the Test HSM Connectivity fails with the following error in the log:2010-01-25 16:06:50,561 INFO [com.adobe.truststore.crypto.CryptoUtil] encryptByt...

Thanks for the answer Jasmin.Would you mind logging a bug on this issue? To my mind, there's two possible reasons why these components are included in the samples:1) Someone goofed. That's OK, mistakes get made however a bug should be logged to remove them.2) These were included on purpose. That's OK too, but I think some clarification with respect to the licensing conditions is required. In the absence of any documentation to the contrary I believe it's reasonable for a user to assume that they...

In the "Avoka" category at the top.I have LiveCycle Rights Management, Reader Extensions, Digitial Signatures, Output, Forms and Reader Extensions installed. I don't know if it's specific to one of those. I believe I've seen this before in ES too, so I don't think it's specific to ES2.Regards,Rob

I've just noticed that the Avoka Create User Create Group service got installed along with the Adobe services when I installed LiveCycle ES2. Has this component been licensed by Adobe on behalf of their users? I see that the Avoka web site indicates that while you can use their components freely for development and testing, they want money before you can use them in production. Does this apply to the Create User Create Group component too?I'm thinking of using this in a solution for a customer h...

We have a customer that converts very large documents from MSWord and WordPerfect to PDF using PDF Generator. They have successfully converted 1GB documents however it can take a very long time (over an hour). They are using a Watched Folder interface however (as Hodmi previously indicated) we have had to tweak their timeout settings to prevent LiveCycle from killing the task.I would run the largest files you expect to see through and then if you encounter timeouts, contact Adobe support. They c...

For starters, you will need to use a mono-spaced font such as Courier. Proportionally spaced fonts won't work properly for this purpose as your example demonstrates.Rob

I'm trying to debug a PDFG problem that is happening on a client site. I would like to turn on the "RunConversionVisibly" flag. I have instructions on how to do this in JBoss (using the jmxconsole app to change this MBean property on the PDFMaker service). I have also managed to perform the same operation using the Java jconsole app under JBoss however I've been unable to utilize jconsole to turn this flag on under WebLogic.I'm able to connect jconsole to Weblogic however I don't see the adobe.c...

Hyperbole aside, from the points you raise it's clear you're a developer who is looking at Designer through a programmer's lens. Designer was created to try and make the simple stuff simple and the hard stuff possible. It is intended to be used by two types of users - developers (for the hard stuff) and form authors (for the simple stuff). It also tries to shift as much as it can from the "hard stuff" basket into the "easy stuff" basket. No matter how easy you try to make it though, some stuff j...
