Hmmm, well a check box only has two states on and off. Both of which can be assigned values. In your case though you have a greater than operator (>) which confuses me since I'd expect an equals to (==). Not that you can't use greater than, there's just really no point. You might want to post your pdf so we can have a look and better unerstand what you're trying to do.Kyle

Hi Paul, Put an extra visible button which will be your submit button. This "extra" button will do validations and all pre-submission checks.Once all checks have passed, then execute a "hidden" email submit button.Code Example:var formPassedValidations = false;if (formPassedValidations == true) btnHiddenEmailSubmit.execEvent("click");else hope this is what you are looking for... have fun!Regards, Luigi D'Amico8 BIT PLATOONdesign develop deploywww.8bitplatoon.com

Like yourself, I am a newcomer to using LiveCycle and JavaScript (in fact any scripting). I opted for radio buttons in the Form I am designing as it will replace a low use tick box paper Form. Some of those completing it are likley to opt for printing a blank form and completing it by hand.Someone more knowledgable will hopefully answer you. If I was trying it, I would try mouseUp event or layout:ready in the dropdown's Events and Scripts. One of the issues I was trying to address, is the user c...

That didn't seem to work. It is still giving me the error message if I click the "yes" button one time, even if I go back and change my answer to "no". If I originally click the "no" button, it will let me proceed. But if I click "yes" it gives me an error (which I want), but the problem is that it wont let you change your anawer back to "No". It is as if once the command is activated it doesnt recognize if you unclick the "yes" button. Does that make sense? Here is the new script I entered with...

That is a great start, but since I am not a scripting guru (just a beginner), I might need a lot more help. I have area (1) set as a date/time field, user entered/required. Areas (2 - 15) are calculated only.

yes it will work in java just the syntax is a little different, but you can have a mix of java and formcalc in your form anyway - just use formcalc for that button.

Okay. Is it possible the reason the overflow was not working was because the form was not saved as dynamic pdf?

Thanks again. I have very little experience with scripting or programming, so your comments are very helpful in giving me a focus on the subject. I have designed Forms for years in InDesign and saved as PDFs for writing up. See the advantages that Livecycle offers but am struggling with scripting.

Thank-you whyisthisme. However, the problem remained after testing the value using an if statement. as suggested. My code is now against the Change Event on the radio-group (rather than the check-box itself), as follows:-Floor.mandatory = (House.rawValue == 1) ? "disabled" : "error";Floor.presence = (House.rawValue == 1) ? "invisible" : "visible";Floor.rawValue = null; This works the same as described before, with the Floor field being highlighted and a Mandatory Error message appearing, BEFORE t...

Thanks Jono.Pretty amazed what John Brinkman did to create a workaround to this problem. It's a crying shame that Adobe hasn't actually gotten the message that this should just be a built-in feature. Sounds like I'm one in a very long line of users who have inquired about it.Anyway, thanks for the link, I'm going to try to employ this method and see where it gets me. I think might also write a letter to Adobe directly.

Thank you for your reply.I moved the script to the beginning of the form and not on a formfield anymore. And now it works like it should. Why it doesn't work on the textfield on the masterpage is a mystery for me.

it could be to do with masterpages and the way the pagination is set up. Have a look at your pages in the heirarchy and if they are masterpages you need to have set the pagination for those pages at minimum 1 page each so they will show up.

It shouldn't - perhaps they are still leaving spaces which would count as not being null. You could put an extra condition this.rawValue != " " or something like that.
