Re: Programmatically merge XML data into PDF form - Adobe LiveCycle 27-09-2010
Aditya,If you LiveCycle Forms ES or LiveCycle Forms ES2 you use the Forms service renderPDFForm operation to merge data with a .pdf or .xdp. This could apply to a form rendered in Workspace or a process invoked through the Java API.Again, what services or technology are you using to access the XML?Steve

Re: how do you use a text field's value in message text - Adobe LiveCycle 27-09-2010
This can be done several ways.1) Floating fields. This is the use case for floating fields (http://help.adobe.com/en_US/livecycle/9.0/designerHelp/000427.html) whereby you simply do data binding to an object defined as a floating field and embedded in a text object. Used the attached .xml as the form preview data file.2) Sting concatenation on rawValue. You can treat the value of text objects just like the value of text field objects. For example, the script below is the exit event on a numeric ...

Re: Programmatically merge XML data into PDF form - Adobe LiveCycle 27-09-2010
What kind of service are you using to retrieve the XML?If you are using a Web Service that returns XML as a string you can bind the string in the invokeResponse directly to a text field. For example,The binding produces populates the text field with XML.Steve

Re: Calculating numbers from text values - Adobe LiveCycle 27-09-2010
Using text fields for numbers makes me a bit squeamish so I tend to check for numbers (isNaN) and convert strings to integers (parseInt) or floats (parseFloat) depending upon the requirements. The following code produces an integer annual income.// form1.page1.applicantAnnualIncome::calculate - (JavaScript, client)if (!(form1.page1.ApplicantIncome.isNull)) { var incomeStr = ApplicantIncome.rawValue; if (isNaN(incomeStr)) { xfa.host.messageBox("Income is not a number.","Income Validation",1); thi...

Re: Specifying inputs and manipulating outputs of Web Service calls - Adobe LiveCycle 26-09-2010
Matthew,I put together a sample that calls a public Web Service, maps the data from the SOAP response to a process variable of type 'xml' and renders a PDF using the xml.I found public Web Services at http://wiki.cdyne.com/wiki/index.php?title=CDYNE_Weather which exposes WSDL at http://ws.cdyne.com/WeatherWS/Weather.asmx?wsdl and choose the operation GetCityWeatherByZIP. The operation takes a input string of ZIP code and produces the SOAP response, below. true City Found CA Sacramento Rosevil...

Re: LiveCycle does not maintain Acrobat Usage Rights - Adobe LiveCycle 25-09-2010
This is the normal and expected behaviour. A rights-enabled interactive PDF is enabled for the purpose of opening and filling in Adobe Reader. LiveCycle Designer is a tool for authoring XDP and PDF files. You wouldn't want to assign rights to a form that would allow another form author to take and modify your form.Steve

Re: Enabling-disabling objects - Adobe LiveCycle 25-09-2010
Change the check box access property to "readOnly". For example, form1.page1.cb.access = "readOnly";To make the check box user entered optional change the check box access property to "". For example, form1.page1.cb.access = "";Rather than use "invisible" use "hidden".Steve
