Ben Another usercase would be where we couldn't analyse using server logs .. eg. when an article/video goes viral ie whilst we could (using server logs) to determin the second/mins the requests started what we can't see (unless we capture by populating evar with time value) is when the article/video was shared. Additionall we could combine this with logged in info to possibly infer the influencer(s)

Benjamin, With regards real-time and our requirement, we would not want the users to run any other reports. .. scope creep but maybe tweaking menu items visible/non-visible by user groups

At present I believe there are a number of permissions that have dependencies on other permissions eg. ONLY enabling 'Real Time' under Advanced Reporting Access won't grant access to the Real Time report(s), as an Admin user you have to then second guess the dependencies .. which I haven't yet worked out for granting someone just Real Time Acess. It may not be possible to grant a group specific permissions the Admin requires, however showing the dependencies should make it more transparent.

Dan, Have you tried comparing New/Repeat segments based on built in visits no. vs getNewRepeat ? I'm seeing odd differences (using discover) suggesting the latter is not accurate (similar finding with other plugins too when compared to equivilant built in metrics )

Have had this discussion/debate with omniture. They SHOULD be filtering out sipders without cost. One of the most important aspects of analytics is it's reliability, if bots/spiders are executing javascript or making image request (some implementation include this to capture non javascript users) then this places a big question mark over the numbers and requires further auditing.
