$nith$I have run into this issue before after attempting to clean out the process history from AdminUI of process instances clogging up my Workspace queue's card view. What I found is that many of the processes I had attempted to terminate were still in a state of "terminating" and, as a result, many new process instances were entering an initial status of "queued" and their respective forms were being saved as drafts as opposed to being properly submitted forward.Run some searches within AdminU...

JohnAre you submitting from a user step within a workflow? If so, is the process variable housing your form using a custom submit service?Additionally, how is your form's submit button configured? If you'd like, feel free to attach your form or email me a copy and I'll take a look at it!Josh BoyleCardinal Solutions Groupjboyle@cardinalsolutions.com

AllI have an XML document of the following form: What I need is a means to insert a new node underneath one of the elements. However, this requires indexing to specify which I'd like to add to. So, using a SetValue, I have the following left-hand side of an expression:/process_data/xmlVar/RootNode/ChildNode[2]/NewNodeand on the right-hand side of the expression:'test'However, the above throws an XML parsing error stating that an "invalid XML character was specified". If I simply remov...

AllI have a 15 page PDF form with a print button that leverages the following line of Javascript to invoke Reader's printing menu option:app.execMenuItem("Print");In prior version fo reader (7, 8 and even 9.0) this works properly. However, now in 9.1, I receive a dialog when I try to print stating that no pages were selected to print. This only occurs in 9.1.Did something change with the printing capabilities with the 9.1 reader release? If so, how can I achieve this functionality? Thanks

Deepak and BPM userI would recommend the following:1) Build a sub process that accepts an AdobeID (user id) as input and returns the common name of the person associated with that AdobeID as output. In the sub process, you'll just have to do a Query Single Row call.2) Map the "Completed ID" output parameter of any user steps you have to a String process variable and, after each user step, pass this String into the sub process you built in 1) to find out their name.At this point, you'll now know ...

NelsonIf you are storing the attachments within the PDF itself (embedded attachments) then you must submit as PDF to preserve them. If you utilize the Workspace attachments tab then you can get around this as the attachments can be stored in a list variable for you from which you can do whatever you'd like!Feel free to shoot me an email and we I'll explain in greater detail or answer any questions you may have.Josh Boylejboyle@cardinalsolutions.comCardinal Solutions Group

NelsonAs Paul has stated, there really isn't a good way to get the "status" of a short-lived process because being able to get such a status goes against what a short-lived process is intended for. Typically a short-lived process would run and promptly return any outputs to you. Personally, I like to distinguish long-lived versus short-lived by associating user steps with long-lived and their absence with short-lived (since short-lived processes can't have any user steps anyway). If you are stil...

CarmenWe at Cardinal Solutions have seen the need for clients to convert an xfaForm to a Document Form many times. Unfortunately doing so is not exactly straightforward due to the reason that xfaForm and Document Form are very different in how they work. One way of converting from an xfaForm to a Document Form in the interest of Digital Signatures is as follows:1) Have two templates of your form. The two templates should be identical aside from having one's submission method set to XDP and the o...

SedatWe have done this for many clients here at Cardinal. We wrote some SQL that queried all the email addresses for users under a specified group and specified (optionally) domain and returned the data as XML which is then used to create a comma-separated list of the email address. We wrapped all that up in a component that accepts the following as input:Group Name or IDDomain Name or ID (optional)SubjectBody (as either HTML or standard text)The component then sends an email based on the above p...

MehulBy "validation" I'm going to make an assumption that you are referring to LiveCycle Designer form validation.LiveCycle Designer allows the use of either Javascript of FormCalc whereas the script object you can use within Workbench utilizes BeanShell - a small scripting language based on Java.As far as making use of an external js file for use in validation within Designer, you can reference "trusted" functions. These functions can be stored in files within the app.path directory and can be ...

AllI am attempting to build a simple orchestration that is kicked off via the TaskCreated event. As of now, I don't care about using a filter - I just want the orchestration to run any time the TaskCreated event is fired.I've created such an orchestration. First I placed a start point TaskCreated event on the canvas. I followed this with a SetValue operation that assigns some random sentence to a String variable. I've saved and activated this service. Now, when I go into Workspace and launch a wo...

JohannesI may have misunderstood your intention so if I have I apologize in advance! As I understand it, you want to sort the List your attachments are stored in and keep it sorted the same way between user steps. You could do this one of two ways but both revolve around the creation of an algorithm with which to do so:1) Using SetValues, you can build an algorithm that sorts your List in the way you prefer - such as alphabetically.2) Using an Execute Script object, you could write a script that...

KimI would suggest one of the following two methods:1) Prior to sending the email with the SendEmail service, build the email contents via SetValues and using String process variables. Have one String for the subject (i.e. sSubject) and one for the body (i.e. sBody) and build your content appropriately. You can use multiple SetValues or you could do it all in one. After your email's body is done being built, use a SetValue to set it to a Document variable (i.e. docBody = sBody). You can then use...

S. BishopI just returned to the forums and was going to mention the database table tb_ws_properties but it appears as though you've beat me to it!This table holds the Admin Global properties for Workspace. You can edit them directly from in the database, or you can go into AdminUI, to the Workspace ES section, go into Global Administration, export the Admin Global Settings (it creates an XML document for you), edit the XML and import it back. Both will accomplish what you are looking for I belie...

Sihamgbedekar (the above poster) has a component on his blog (eslifeline.wordpress.com) with which you can pass in a TaskID and get all the attachments within that task. I'd take a look at it!Conversely, you can simply use the built-in functionality of the Assign Task (user) service to store any attachments in a list.Let me know if you have any questions.Josh Boylejboyle@cardinalsolutions.comCardinal Solutions Group

S. BishopI'm not sure if this would be viable for you or not but the word "Approve" is detected by LiveCycle as a "special" route name and thus is going to be shoved all the way to the right. However the word "Approved" is not "special" and would result in "Archive" being the rightmost button. As far as reordering the buttons goes, I'm not sure if there is a way to do so. If anybody knows of one, I would love to know myself!Josh Boylejboyle@cardinalsolutions.comCardinal Solutions Group

MehulI've not worked with Oracle but I'll give this a shot. Try the following:1) If the database you are querying is transcational, add the text (without quotes) "WITH (NOLOCK)" as part of your FROM clause. It may be possible for your DBAs to have set that any queries run without this to be rejected since it would result in locking the table.2) I assume, by your query, that custId is of an integer type but if it is varchar (String) then make sure to put your single quotes around the parameter af...

ElaineAny form can be thought of as a combination of two elements: data and template. In this sense, "data" refers to the actual XML data used to populate the form and "template" refers to the actual, visual layout of the form (what you create in Designer). With that in mind, I can offer the following:xfaForm: complex variable type that holds XDP-based data along with a reference to the form template via the "templateURL" property within. xfaForms provides the advantage that if the form it's hol...

S. Bishop,The title of this thread requests how to Flatten a PDF but after reading your post I'm unclear if that is what you are specifically trying to do =). One way you can flatten a PDF form is to stick it in an xfaForm variable and run it through Output's generatePDFOutput service. This service accepts many parameters as input but most are optional. The ones to concern yourself with at first would be:1) Transformation Format: The format which you would like to flatten your PDF to. You may cho...

Han Dao,As you have guessed, the creator_id is a string that holds the ID of the process's creator and, unfortunately, none of the send email services allow an email address to be specified as such.To query for the actual email address of the process creator, use the "Query Single Row" operation of the JDBC service.
