Re: Distribute fillable pdf without Submit Button - Adobe LiveCycle 18-06-2012
Keep in mind that Reader Extending a document comes with restrictions via the terms of service. You can only Reader Extend a document that will be filled in by no more than 500 distinct users OR where the data will not be collected/used from more than 500 filled in instances of the form..- Scott

Any way to outright exclude a control from the tab order? (besides xfa.host.setFocus) - Adobe LiveCycle 18-06-2012
Hey all,I've been building forms for three years now, and I've gotten pretty good at forcing them to do what I want. One reoccurring issue is the tab order. My forms have a ton of buttons, and for the most part, I would like to be able to exclude them from the tab order. On top of that, I've seen issues where repeating subforms will confuse the tab order as well. For the past two years, I've been maunally coding in the tab order on a field by field basis. On the exit event of all controls, I inc...

Re: Linking to help documents on a common drive - Adobe LiveCycle 27-04-2012
Well, in my version (9.??) I can add static text to my form, and while editing the text directly in the form design pane I can highlight a portion of the static text, right click and select "...Insert Hyperlink".To be clear, this only works for static text or captions... it won't work for fillable text fields.Let me know if you don't have the option to insert a hyperlink by right clicking on selected text (you should, even in your version). If you don't, then I could try walking you through how ...

Re: Is it possible for fragments to contain variable content? - Adobe LiveCycle 27-04-2012
Well, as I was writing the above question, I had an idea as to how I mihgt be able to acheive this... I tried it and it worked. In my master page, I he turned my entier header into a fragment. In the header is an empty text field that I have formatted to look as I want the title text to appear. Also in my master page is a "FormOptions" subform with text fields for each 'variable' such as title. In the Title text field in the fragment, in the initialize code I've used:this.rawValue = FormSettings.T...

Is it possible for fragments to contain variable content? - Adobe LiveCycle 27-04-2012
Hi everyone,I've been looking at using fragments to help with maintaining form consistancy. We have about 25 forms which all use the same template. Our company just changed our slogan, which is included in the footer of the master page. Now I find myself having to go through all 25 forms to update the slogan. This sounds like a perfect job for fragments.I would like to have one fragment for the entire header, and a second fragment for the entire footer. My issue is that each form has a different...

Re: Form doesn't play nicely with Acrobat 8 Pro - Adobe LiveCycle 16-12-2011
Alright, I have a bit of an update.First, I want to add that with Acrobat 9 or later, my form functions exactly as I had intended. It's just the one partner organization with Acobat 8.0 that is seeing this issue.Anyhow, I went through my form paying very close attention to the 'keep with next/prev' settings. I fiddled with those, and sent a revised version off to our partner for testing. They have reported that the issue surrounding the order of the subforms has been resolved. There still is, ho...

Form doesn't play nicely with Acrobat 8 Pro - Adobe LiveCycle 16-12-2011
Hi everyone,I recently created a very dynamic PDF that we've sent to a number of our partners to help with sharing data. One of our partners is using Adobe Acrobat 8 to fill in the form. They have reported a bug where filling in a specific number of repeatable subforms causes the order of the subforms to become jumpled, along with having a large number of blank pages tacked onto the end. Removing the 'threashold' repeatabed subform section puts the form back to rights, but any additional subforms...

Re: I'm wondering if it is possible to design a form that will read flashcards in xml format? - Adobe LiveCycle 14-12-2011
Good morning,For me, it was easier to just build the form for you than it would have been giving step by step instructions. I was able to bind the xml you provided to a repeatable subform. The answers are hidden until you press a button to show the answer. If you send me a private message here with your email, I'll send the pdf to you directly.- Scott

Re: Create Livecycle form that can not be overwritten - (template) - Adobe LiveCycle 12-12-2011
Good morning,You could set the file to be read-only via the file properties dialog provided by your operating system. This would disallow changes to be saved to the original.I think that this may be your only option. I personally cannot think of any way to have a PDF govern itself in such a manner. If I'm not mistaken, even using pre-save logic in formcalc or javascript couldn't prevent a user from saving over the original. PDFs don't tend to let you interrupt a user who wishes to save/print/clo...
