HiI need to manipulate fields in a subform recursively.I have the following code that works perfectly...for (var i=0; i var oObject = oSubform.nodes.item(i); if (oObject.className == "field") { // do stuff } else if (oObject.className == "subform") { // do some other stuff }}The problem is the "className" equals "field" for almost any type of field - checkbox, radio, textfield, numeric field, etc. We need to do slightly different things depending on the type of field.Does anyone know if there's ...

Hi abhishekThe user QPAC is saying that you're trying to allocate the task to a null user. I suspect that the LDAP query in the previous step is bringing back null data from your ldap query. It's very hard to know exactly what's going on without seeing the detail of what you're doing in your workflow. My suggestion is to work on one bit at a time - first make sure that your LDAP query is bringing back a valid user name. One way to test this is to specify the user-name-variable as an "out" paramet...

Hi Robre: what do image fields get mapped to: I haven't worked with Image fields, but I can say that they won't automatically get mapped to document variables. I suspect that the image is stored in some sort of hex encoded format with the XML document.re: iterating over form items. It's quite difficult to iterate over form items. What exactly do you want to do with these images? Store them in the database or in a series of files?Howardhttp://www.avoka.com

HiI use a similar approach, but rather than using two different form templates (which can get problematic to manage), I create a hidden field somewhere on my form, called "Phase".I set the value of Phase using the SetValue QPAC.In a layout ready event (or actually any event), I have code something like:if (Phase.rawValue == "Initiate") { // Do something} else if (Phase.rawValue == "Respond") { // Do something different}This means that the logic for controlling how your form looks and how it beha...

Hi EvangelosThe QPAC is now ready for beta testing.I'll send you the QPAC by separate email. There is no documentation yet, but hopefully the user interface makes it fairly easy to work out.One point: the QPAC picks a file off the file system, NOT out of a process variable. The file must be accessible from the Workflow server machine, not the user's machine. Please let us know if you encounter any problems, or if you need any enhancements. Also, please note that in order for this QPAC to work, it h...

HiYou need to specify the deployment properties for this QPAC, as specified in the user guide: standards-based-qpacs.pdf.In short:The initial context factory should be: com.sun.jndi.ldap.LdapCtxFactoryThe provider URL should be something like:ldap://myserver:389, but this will obviously depend on the location of your LDAP server. The user and password are only required if your LDAP server requires them.Regards,Howard

Hi EvangelosIt is possible to achieve, but you do need another QPAC (and you have to use a bit of a trick to make it happen.)We have this QPAC in beta, but it needs a bit of work because of some changes in an underlying library - I'll get it fixed, and email it to you in the next couple of days.Regards,Howard

Hi MattThe easiest way to get hold of the jar files is to open the emailreceiver.jar file using something like Winzip - you'll find the files in there. Or you can get them from:http://java.sun.com/products/javamail/downloads/index.htmlThe error you're getting says that the launcher can't find the Java class. Try DesignerC.exe, it might tell you the exact class. The problem might may be that you've put Designer.exe in the wrong directory, or that Designer.lap has the wrong contents. It could also...

Hi DanielWe have been starting workflows ok via web services. The easiest way to do this it to add an extra setting to the following line to your C:\Adobe\LiveCycle\jboss\bin\run.bat file:set JAVA_OPTS=%JAVA_OPTS% -Dprogram.name=%PROGNAME% -Dadobe.workflow.service.test.enabled=true You can then invoke the workflow as a web service at:http://:8080/services.Notes:- You must also right click on your workflow, select Workflow Properties, and check Web Service Access.- You must define the variables a...

HiNot that I'm aware of.However, it's a good idea. We're in the process of implementing a variation of the User QPAC, and I'll add it to the feature list for that. Unfortunately, it's still a few weeks away from being available. Please send me a private email to htreisman @ avoka.com, and I'll send it to you a notification when it's available.Regards,HowardHoward Treisman Avoka Technologies Specializing in Custom QPAC development and LiveCycle Solutions http://www.avoka.com/avoka/qpac_library.sh...

HiFor the root url, you need to specify the url of an existing form. The easiest way to do this is to copy and paste the url from a Form Variable Definition. The only output variable you need (despite the *'s) is the output document, which should be a document variable. The documentation is quite accurate and helpful - but you need to read it carefully.HowardHoward Treisman Avoka Technologies Specializing in Custom QPAC development and LiveCycle Solutions http://www.avoka.com/avoka/qpac_library.sh...

HiThe creator_id is an internal workflow id that does not exist in LDAP, so you can't use the LDAP QPAC to look it up.You CAN use the LookupUser QPAC we've developed. You can download a beta from http://www.avoka.com/betaqpacs/This will return the email address, login id, and lots of other details about the designated user.HowardHoward Treisman Avoka Technologies Specializing in Custom QPAC development and LiveCycle Solutions http://www.avoka.com/avoka/qpac_library.shtml

Hi DanielI'd love to see those examples. My email is: htreisman @ avoka.comYes, we do develop custom QPACs, but unfortunately no, we don't have any solution to the problem - yet.The problem really is that dealing with repeating elements in an XML file is a difficult problem to solve in a generic way.We are however in the process of grappling with this exact issue for a customer, and I hope to have some answers within the next few days.I look forward to your email.HowardHoward Treisman Avoka Techn...

HiDon't use stall - that's for testing transactional branches only. (Advanced feature.)The workflow engine will consider a workflow to be complete if, on a particular step:- there are no routes to follow- there are routes, but none of them evaluate to "true"So you don't really need an explicit end point. If you'd like to have a QPAC that is the "designated end point", then use the Decision point. The Decision point is a misnomer - it's actually a null QPAC - it's just a step in the workflow that ...

HiIf you have a submit/email button on a form, when the user clicks it, it will check that all the mandatory fields have been entered. If any are missing, it will not let you submit. However, if you do your submit using Javascript, then no checks are performed. The documentation implies that this can be done. From page 42 of the Javascript reference:] "The client may choose to prevent the form from being committed if any part of the form is invalid. For example, a client may choose to prevent the ...

Here's something to try...Under some circumstances (such as changing the type of a field), the underlying XML retains values that aren't displayed in the object't properties box.Try clicking on the XML tab, and doing a search for any text that looks anything like this:or If you do, that will indicate the cause of the problem.Good luck...Howard

HiYou should not be using the "status" variable - this is an internal variable used by the workflow engine. It's also an integer, and you're trying to set it using a string. Try creating your own string variable, and getting/setting that. You should also use the Test tab.To use the Test Tab of the Script QPAC:Download our SQLPlus QPAC from the web site at: http://www.avoka.com/avoka/qpac_library.shtmlIt has instructions for running the Designer with a Java console. This will enable you to use the...

HiI'll look into why the script isn't working. It looks right to me.If you're trying to validate users, I suggest several options:1. Try our UserLookup QPAC. It's currently in beta, you can download it from: http://www.avoka.com/betaqpacs/QPAC_lookupuser.jar This returns all sorts of useful information for a user, including whether the user was found.2. If the number of users is not too great, you should consider pre-populating combo-boxes with the user names - this way, users of your form would...

HiYour xpath expression is incorrect - scalar variables are preceded by an "@". ie "/process_data/@status". This will fail with an exception (VariableNotFound or something similar), which is why the rest of your code is not running.I also think that you will find that getting a value that you've just set will still get the original value of the variable, not the new value. The value isn't committed until the step completes. (Not sure about this, but just letting you know so that you're not surpr...
