HiYou're missing the name of the database on the end of the connection url. This should cause an error when trying to establish the datasource, which you should be able to see in the JBoss log file. Our SQLPlus QPAC does allow you to verify things like your connection strings by connecting interactively to the database. You can also view the tables/columns, preview your results, use prepared statements, handle multiple rows, etc.http://www.avoka.com/avoka/qpac_library.shtmlHoward

For Form Manager and Workflow, I've found it usually takes between about 3-5 minutes, depending on the machine.Howard

Thanks ChrisThe reason I ask is another poster was getting problems with font-manager loading, and I suggested he remove it, just to get through the JBoss startup. Obviously he'll have to resolve his problems in the longer term.Howard

Another thought - a lot of what startup does is unpack jar files - if you've got a problem on your hard disk (eg lack of space, badly fragmented), it can cause things to run really slow. However, 50 minutes does seem extremely excessive.Chris - what are the fonts in Font-manager actually used for? And what are the implications of removing it completely? Thanks,Howard

Hi AnasThis is described in a fair amount of detail in the SDK in "standard_based_qpacs.pdf", in "Deploying the SQL QPAC / Creating a JNDI datasource".You also need to place the SQL Server jar files in: C:\Adobe\LiveCycle\jboss\server\all\liband restart JBoss.Alternately, you can try our SQLPlus QPAC at: http://www.avoka.com/avoka/qpac_library.shtmlThis allows you to do some testing of your connection parameters and SQL statement within the QPAC's dialog.Howard

HiCan anyone help with creating an XML file programmatically.I know how to use: var xml = XMLData.parse("", false );to create an initial document. But how do I append new nodes to this document, and set their values?I've had a look at xml.nodes.append(...), but:a) this appears to be undocumented, does anyone know where I can find documentation on thisb) it appears to require a node as a parameter, and I can't find a way to create a node. (createNode() doesn't appear to exist on the xml variable.)...

HiPerhaps you are not saving the form data back into the workflow variable. You need to specify the output variable (can be same as the input variable) on the mappings tab.Howardhttp://www.avoka.com

HiIf you have a renderform qpac and then the email qpac following it immediately, there is no need to use a wait qpac. The render qpac will only continue on to the next step when it has finished doing its job.If you have them in two different branches within a split, then they will both run "simultaneously", and one might finish before the other. I would use splits very hesitantly - I've built lots of workflows, and I've yet to find a need for one. It introduces a level of complexity and uncerta...

HiIt is not necessary to have an attachment with the email qpac, as far as I know. You cannot use the email receiver - this receives emails, doesn't send them.Doing a parallel process the way you've described it is the only way I'm aware.I suggest you have a detailed look at your server.log file - it may contain more information about exactly what's going wrong.howard

HiIt's hard to tell for sure without more context, but the stack trace above does not look like a problem with your mail server. It looks like you have connected to the mail server ok, but there is some problem with the email itself. Is there a possibility, for example, that at the time you're trying to send this email, the attachment does not yet exist?Howard

Hi RobWot Chris sed.You could automate it as he suggested. Usually, I just use the web service interface at http://:8080/services, or I create a little Form in form manager that kicks it off.An interesting problem is how do you prevent multiple copies from running. We have on our TODO list a QPAC that will cause the workflow to terminate if there is already another instance of the same workflow running. If this is an issue for you, we can escalate development of that QPAC. Let me know.Another op...

Hi AbhishekNo, there is no way of automatically retrying. Some QPACs (such as the email receiver) do have the option of either stalling or continuing in the case of an error. You can then detect the error within your workflow, and put a loop into the workflow itself (incrementing a retry-count variable). You could submit a feature request to add a facility to the LDAP/Email qpacs to automatically retry n times in the case of an error.I am a little confused as to why you'd need this though - if LDA...

Hi RobI believe you can simply map the attachment back to the form variable, and it should just override the original one. This assumes that you are attaching the XDP file rather than an XML file to the email in your Submit button. If the email contains multiple attachments, you can retrieve all of them. You simply add extra lines to the list of attachments. The behavior of the Email Receiver is:- If you specify neither the name nor the mime type, it will simply find the first attachment, and ins...

HiI found a way to determine the Exchange account name.In Outlook, click on the Address book, and do a search for the person whose account you want to read. When you find the person, double click, and it will bring up a bunch of information about that account. It's the "alias" field you want.Howard

Hi CliftonIt's a little difficult to understand exactly what you're trying to achieve without a more detailed explanation, but let me offer you some suggestions.1. When you say "attachment", what exactly do you mean? Do you mean a document stored in a process variable, or do you mean an attachment to a particular work item (in Form Manager)?2. If you want to initiate a new process instance from VB, you basically have 2 options:a) Invoke using Web Services. (see http://yourserver:8080/services)b)...

HiI'd still recommend trying out the UserLookup QPAC. It should be out of beta in a few weeks, or earlier if you have an urgent need.I also recommend trying the Softerra LDAP browser (free download). This will really help you to diagnose your LDAP issues.http://www.softerra.com/download/download.phpHoward

HiI believe the problem is that Exchange requires a fairly strange username. You need to specify:\nt-domain\domain-user-name\email-account-nameExchange uses the nt-domain, domain-user-name and password to authenticate you with the domain. It then uses email-account-name as the specific email account you're going to open. The nt-domain, domain-user-name and password are the usual settings you use when you log into Windows. The email-account-name is usually, but not necessarily the "name" part of yo...

PS Two things you may want to consider:1. We have a QPAC that looks up users in the local user data that is cached in the Workflow database. This QPAC is much easier to use than LDAP, and gives you quite a lot of information about users in a very simple way. It can automatically find a user based on someone typing in either their login name or their email address, etc. You can download a beta version at: http://www.avoka.com/betaqpacs/2. If there is some feature enhancement for the LDAP qpac tha...

Hi AbhishekNo worries 🙂I know it can be frustrating working on a new product with not a lot of support around you. It's difficult to know exactly what your workflow is doing, but I agree with you that it's possible that the LDAP query might return blank data, and you need to design your workflow to accomodate this.Good luck!howard

Hi RobThe data items are represented in the form data as a repeating sequence in the underlying XML. The exact structure of this will depend on whether you've defined an XML schema, how you've bound it, etc. In other words, something like: ACME 123 3 12.95 444 2 99.95 If you'd like to find out what the actual data in your form-variable is, use our free VariableLogger QPAC at: http://www.avoka.com/avoka/qpac_library.shtmlIn terms of iterating over these items, there aren't any standard QPACs that...

HiYou need to be careful with LDAP Queries. Sometimes the query can be valid, but the data it returns is blank. You could test for this by putting a path in your workflow that routes the workflow to an administrator if the user is not found. Then the administrator could manually assign the task to the correct user. Or something like that.Let us know how you go.Howard
