Re: Personal Time-off - Workfront 13-07-2016
Hi David, Correct: for trasparency and reportability, I am proposing you NOT use PTO within Workfront, and instead use a standard project to record PTO. For best results, I also invite you to consider: - creating one such project per year (eg 2016 PTO) for everyone, ideally; or per month/business unit if you have too many people - establish procedures to have people book time as tasks on the PTO project: one task, one assignee, per PTO event (e.g. if Doug, David, Eric and Nate are golfing this F...

Re: Sorting of status field - Workfront 12-07-2016
Similar to Eric's suggestion, if you'd prefer to leave the Status labels alone, consider adding a calculated text field (eg Ordered Status) that uses IF statements to append the prefixes Eric mentioned, and sort by that instead. Regards, Doug

Re: How to limit numbers of records in report - Workfront 11-07-2016
Hi Brian, There is no TOP equivalent available, so instead, I suggest you either hardcode a filter to your report (eg where Risk Calc > 95) to limit it to the top few-or-so-if-any and adjust the "95" as needed when real data changes, and/or add a prompt to the report so users can choose the range dynamically. Neither is quite what you want, but perhaps one will be Close Enough. Regards, Doug

Re: Personal Time-off - Workfront 11-07-2016
Thanks for thinking of us, Eric. Yes, we could probably create a Magic Report or possibly an UberCalc for this, but first, I'd suggest trying to create an out if the box report on new PTO entries this week, and or (gasp) abandoning the PTO concept in favor of a standard project for PTO pirposes, which I find to be more transparent and useful, in practice. Regards, Doug

Re: Showing Time Only for Start/Completion Dates - Workfront 07-07-2016
Hi Becca, No, you didn't miss anything; but that's the second time I've fooled myself into thinking such a format exists, natively. Shame on me, as the saying goes. That said, I do keep fastidious notes, and (huzzah!) solved this one the first time, back in November last year. Here is what I did; Add a category to those special tasks (e.g. Schedule Equipment, Schedule Room, etc.) with a calculated TEXT field called Time Slot Start with a formula of CONCAT(HOUR(Planned Start Date),":",RIGHT(CONCA...

Re: Make Workfront Full Screen (in Chrome) - Workfront 04-07-2016
Hi Craig, Thanks for this excellent tip -- and interesting precident! One of my colleagues recorded a video of the steps to make it easier for our clients to adjust their browsers, which I'd like to share with those who'd like to see it in action: http://www.screencast.com/t/8eVZskNiAi Regards, Doug

Re: "auto-completion" based on predecessors? - Workfront 04-07-2016
Hi Paola, Thanks for considering Auto-Complete : 1. Yes, any Task is considered, regardless of whether they are tagged as a milestone. Instead, you choose a Task Category (e.g. "Auto-Complete") then select the Maximum Task Length (e.g. 0 mins to 10 mins). Run it find and update as Complete every WorkFront Task within that Category that matches, providing their predecessors are all complete. 2. Yes, you can manually run whenever you wish; alternatively, you can schedule it to run automatically (u...

Re: How to eliminate duplicate records in a Workfront report - Workfront 04-07-2016
Hi David, Sometimes, when an option isn't available in the builder (as "Project" is not, on the Grouping of the matrix Assignment Report we are discussing), it might mean that the user interface isn't quite built out as extensively as we'd like, but we can still get what we need by using text mode. Here's what I just did: created a new Assignment report Grouped by something that IS available (Assigned To Name) Switched the grouping to textmode Manually replaced "assignedTo" with "project" throug...

Re: Calendars - Workfront 03-07-2016
Hi Janice and Anthony, We're currently developing a drag and drop calendar for Workfront for our clients in the Oil & Gas industry. Version 1 lets you select a user filter, toggle those users who match on or off, and in doing so, show the "on" users' tasks on the calendar, colored to a user-specific color set on the user's custom data. Those tasks can then be dragged or stretched either month or week mode, automatically setting the underlying planned start and end date (as sixed dates/times). Cl...
