Actual invoice amount less than WorkFront amount - Workfront 26-04-2017
Another conundrum for the group to ponder. There are times when we invoice the client for an amount lower than the actual amount generated from WorkFront. For instance, we estimated the cost of a project at $500 but after creating billing records the actual cost is now $1,000. How do we account for that lost revenue? I was thinking of creating an expense type that the account manager would need to complete prior to billing so that the revenue amount in WF matches what we are going to bill for. A...

Billing Records - Multiple Projects - Workfront 26-04-2017
Does anyone know if its possible to create a billing record for mulitiple projects at the same time? Example - We have a client that has 5 projects that complete during the month. At the month end we then invoice for all those projects. Is there a way to select more than one project at a time (select all the records to include) instead of going thru each project individually? We noticed that there are packets getting dropped between us and Workfront. All I can do is ask our IT do ensure it’s not a firewall issue and if not, engage our ISP to troubleshoot the path. It is probably not the answer to all the issues but should be considered as one of many. Tips from our PM. Make sure you are using predecessors in their workflows, making sure that duration and hours are filled out on each task. Make sure task constraints are not “Must happen on”, this lock all the tasks down and makes it too hard to control the workflow manually. We have the same problems. Our project templates for creative have dependencies set up and its often difficult to get the dates to work in that compacted timeline. I will reach out to the lead PM for our creative area and let you know what tips they might have. We have several projects that are not considered billable but we account for them as projects none the less. We filter the billing codes to only show non billable in the project and that's how it shows on the timesheets. We then pull hours and filter out non billable by client. Re: I am trying to use an IF statement to do a calculated field for dates. - Workfront 28-03-2017
The objective is to show the requestor a proposed date that the work will be completed. I don’t need it to change the actual completion date but rather a new field that I am calling “Proposed Completion date”. The other problem I have is that it doesn’t actually do the calculation until the request is submitted. I was hoping that the proposed date could be shown before the request is sent.
