Re: Repeating deliveries: Do empty reports send? - Workfront 09-03-2018
Hi, Skye. Yes, if you have Workfront auto-sending you a report, it will come to you even if it contains no data. I actually consider this a good thing: many of my auto-generated reports are are of the auditing variety, and if they contain results that means I have to go in and fix something. If the reports are empty, I just delete them and move on. ~Eric Eric Manning Language Line Translation Solutions

Re: Status Update Feed Filter and Query Question - Workfront 06-02-2018
While Kelly's approach SHOULD work in theory, in reality it doesn't. I remember speaking to the "experts" at LEAP several years ago, and they told me the only way to report on the contents of Update Feeds is through the API (i.e., via a custom app). So that's what we've done in our company--in our case, to track any changes to the Sponsor of a Project. I just tried another test report to see if the functionality has been added, but it hasn't yet. Looks like it's in the Idea Exchange, though: 115...

Re: Changing Hour Rate - Workfront 09-12-2017
We have always housed and tracked our costs using Job Roles rather than Users. It's somewhat less precise but enables our project managers to track costs while shielding individual salaries. As long as you're willing to change all of your tasks' Cost Type from "User Hourly" to "Role Hourly," here's a possible hack to use until Workfront gets around to handling effective dates on the cost side: When you need to change a rate, rename the Job Role that will be getting a new hourly rate (for example...

Re: UI: Task Indentation - Workfront 25-10-2017
Totally agree. It's hard to believe this hasn't been fixed already.

Re: Additional levels of 'required fields' within custom forms - Workfront 05-10-2017
We could definitely use this. When we log an Issue on a project, it goes through various stages--root cause analysis, corrective action plan development, etc.--and each stage requires that a new custom data field be filled in. We'd like to prevent users from changing the Issue status until the required field for that status is filled in. Then, in order to change the status to Closed, ALL the required fields should be filled in.

Enable delivered reports to contain recipients' data - Workfront 25-08-2017
We use Workfront to distribute project and task reports to our project managers. However, it currently isn't possible to build a single report that emails a report containing Project Manager A's projects to Project Manager A, a report containing Project Manager B's projects to Project Manager B, and so on. We are reduced to sending a single report that contains EVERYONE's project data, or else building a separate report for each person. Once the distribution group gets large enough, neither appr...

Re: Create or customize email templates for any notification type to include custom form data - Workfront 23-08-2017
Completely agree. I've wanted to be able to modify the content of the notifications for Task and Issue Assignments since we started with Workfront. Was so excited to discover the Email Template functionality, and so disappointed to find it's limited to Reminder Notifications, which is a feature we don't use (we get plenty of Workfront-related spam already).

Re: Moving to Tracking Time in Workfront - Workfront 18-08-2017
Here's my process for moving "Project Time" back to "Task Time": - Reopen the timesheet in question - Create a new task in the project to "house" the hours, or else determine whether an existing task in the project can serve the purpose (this can sometimes be a tricky undertaking) - Add the task to the person's timesheet - Add new hours to that task in the amount(s) and date(s) that correspond to the Project Time hours (so, for the moment, you're doubling the number of hours) - Save the timeshee...

Re: Moving to Tracking Time in Workfront - Workfront 16-08-2017
We have tracked all our time in Workfront since we rolled it out (over 8 years ago now). We track only Task Time, along with Sick/Vacation/Holiday hours. Most users use a timesheet profile that must be approved by their supervisor after submission. We are somewhat unusual in that we are paid twice a month (rather than the more common every 2 weeks), so it's very nice that Workfront timesheets support this option. FYI, you can disable Project Time as an option to bill to by going to Setup -> Time...

Re: Would like to view all Project Updates - Workfront 03-08-2017
We were looking to report on System Updates a couple of years ago, and I actually discussed it with the technical folks at LEAP that year. They told me it could only be done via the API. So, we built a custom app that sends a report weekly to the administrator. As far as I know, that is still the only way you can do it. ~Eric Eric Manning Language Line Translation Solutions
