This sounds like an elegant solution. Since we are B2B marketers, the device doesn't really change. How do you go about associating a company to a marketing ID? Is it technically difficult to do and would need to bring in a data science team or IT? If it's not too much of a trouble for you, can you share a screenshot of a report of this?

Classifications work like lookup tables that are evaluated whenever a report runs. It does not matter when a Classification value has been created or when the data has been tracked, as long as there is a lookup when the report is executed it will respect the Classification. Those calculations might be influenced by your Unspecified settings in the table with the separate page names. Are you using a filter or fixed elements in that latter table? Try changing the Unspecified filter and compare the results.

That indeed sounds like a blocker for this approach. As a personal recommendation, it is usually a good idea to create a custom Event with a Processing Rule to fire on every Hit. The event would be something like a "Custom Occurrences" metric that should be equal to Occurrences but allows for Attribution settings, Histograms, etc. All of this would not be retroactive, as you correctly stated.
