Yeah, I just made it something simple. It looks for whatever string is in the ().If you had a text field that you want to let the user use to search for something, I'm calling it tfQuery, then your if statement could be:if(TextField1.rawValue.search(tfQuery.rawValue) != -1) ...The "!= -1" is there because the search function returns "-1" if the string you're searching for isn't found. In my example, I was just checking one field to see if "the" appeared anywhere in it. If search() DOES find some...

Is your Content Area flush against the bottom right corner of the page?Do you have "snap to grid" enabled? If so, the picture may be snapping to the part of the grid near the top left of your picture, and that's pulling it away just a bit.If snap to grid is enabled, make sure that the picture's dimensions are evenly divisible by the grid points. e.g., my grid points are 1/8" apart. So, I need my picture to be multiples of 1/8" like 1/8", 1/4", 3/8", etc. If it isn't, then I have to either scale ...

yep! Javascript has one built in: string.search()Here's an example:if (TextField1.rawValue.search("the") != -1) TextField2.rawValue = "yes";else TextField2.rawValue = "no";http://www.w3schools.com/jsref/jsref_search.aspMessage was edited by: jasotastic81 added external link to w3's site.

The first thing I noticed was the missing semicolons in the "Show Checked Items" button. Is that script working?I would replace it with this.var r = 0;var s = 0;for(var i = 1; i<18; i++){ r = Number(i*2+1); s = Number(i*2+2); if(xfa.resolveNove("Table1.Row"+r+"CheckBox"+i).rawValue == 0){ xfa.resolveNode("Table1.Row"+r).presence = "hidden"; xfa.resolveNode("Table1.Row"+s).presence = "hidden"; } else{ xfa.resolveNode("Table1.Row"+r+"CheckBox"+i).rawValue = 0; }}That line in the "else" clause will...

Here's my solution: I had to set the binding for the dropdowns to numbers. I didn't know what numbers you were using, so I picked "0" for what "N/A" would get, but you can pick whatever. For the form, I made one dropdown and then copy/pasted it however many times I wanted. (In this case 8 to match your example.) I put the code in the calculate event for the text field I was using to report the average.var n = 0;var total = 0;for (var i=0; i<8; i++){ if (!xfa.resolveNode("dd1["+i+"]").isNull && x...

Would you be okay with moving this to an exit event on each? i.e., the first if/then goes in the exit event for the specialPromotion box, then the second one goes into the discType exit event.Here's my solution: form1.#subform[0].specialPromotion::exit - (FormCalc, client)if ($.rawValue gt 0) then brandDiscount.rawValue = 0 discountType.rawValue = "N/A"endif form1.#subform[0].discountType::exit - (FormCalc, client)if (HasValue($.rawValue) and $.rawValue <> "N/A") then specialPromotion = 0endifOf...

You'll need an "exit" event for the last line in your table. You'll need to check to be sure that it isn't empty, and that it's the last line. Then after you add the line (if necessary) you'l need to set the focus back to the first column in the new line. Bonus: You'll probably want to be able to have the code check to see if a line is empty (and not the last line) so that you don't have a bunch of empty lines.If you'd like some code help, PM me what you're starting with.

OK, looks like you just need a little extra math. Maybe you could try:Show: calculate* (Quantity*UnitPrice)-(Quantity*UnitPrice*ItemDiscount/100) or Show: calculate* Quantity*UnitPrice*(1-ItemDiscount/100)As far as saving a pdf later. You'll probably have to save the pdf in LiveCycle and close. Open it in Acrobat (should be part of CS3), save as extended pdf and choose to allow users to save (you'll see it under the File menu). Then when the user opens the pdf in Reader, he/she can save the file...

OK, let's look at what the code is doing one line at a time.var Y; initialize a variable "Y"var Z; initialize a variable "Z"Z = Table1.FooterRow.GrandTotal.rawValue; set the value in that cell to "Z"Y = Nett_Pay.rawValue; Are you typing this in? It seems like you would want that filled in by something else. Each picture I've seen shows this field empty.Y = Replace(Y,"Dolars","Rupees"); right now, Y is null, so there's nothing to replace.Y = Replace(Y,"Cents", "Paise"); still null, so this doesn'...

Is your table a set size? Can you use JavaScript on your form? Is your form dynamic?Ok, I'm going to guess at these things and hope this answers your questions. (I'm guessing "no", "yeah, duh!", and "yes".)Make sure your form is dynamic and whatever subform houses the table is able to pagebreak and is flowed.Create your table with one header row and one other row.in that other row, add your drop down list in the first column and textfields in the others.In the 'exit' event add the following code...

Well, would you object to just setting the end date to the same day as the beginning date? That will cause the calendar in the end date to open to the same month as the start date.In the "exit" event for the start date add this code.if (dfEndDate.isNull) dfEndDate.rawValue = this.rawValue;This will cause the date to populate automatically for the end date.For the second question, you can add code to do this. It's kinda lengthy, so be prepared. Also, it doesn't make the date look pretty until you...

Why are you wanting to dynamically change the hierarchy of subforms? I've never run across a situation what would require me to do this, so I'm VERY curious about why you would need to. Can you give an example of what you're trying to do? Even if the hierarchy thing isn't doable, maybe there's something else you could do to get the same result.

This looks like a logic problem. The first if/else statement says, "When the user clicks the Dealer radio button, check to see if the first instance (or 0th instance) is selected. If it is, then make these visible. If not, make them invisible." The problem is, when you click on a radio button, that button is selected. Also, there is only one instance of each, so the 0th instance is always selected. That means that the statement will always evaluate 'true'.The second if/else statement has the sam...

There may be a character limit, but It's past 900, for sure. I just made a sample file in LCD-ES3, and I copy/pasted 2100 characters in a field. It kept all of them. Windows says that's 2,198 bytes (4,096 bytes on disk).

OK, I'm trying to get an idea of where all of the fields are on your form. You have "Nett_pay" selected in the first picture. It looks like the only event that has a script is the "initialize" event. So, unless there's a button somewhere that causes that field to be generated later, that script only runs when you open the page.Perhaps you could put that event on the "enter" event for whatever text field is captioned "Attended By." (TextField8, I would guess.) I would also guess that the "Nett_pa...

Since the subform is positioned, it will always look the same. The grouping occurs by having them in a subform.It's like taking a group photo with your friends. You're positioned in the photograph, so no matter where you move that picture in a photo album, you're always in the same place within the picture.

If you have groups that you know need to stay together, then you're exactly right. You'll have a container that is flowed, and subforms inside of it that are placed automatically. The subforms can be set to "positioned" so that the fields inside of them don't move around. You'll also want to make sure that the container (usually the page, BTW) is set to allow page breaks, but not the subforms.

The container that holds your repeated subforms has an option to allow page breaks.Select the container. On the Object tab > Subform subtab, check the box for "Allow Page Breaks within Content." I would recommend not allowing them in the repeated subform itself, if you have the room. Here's the steps for making a subform repeatable (which you'll have to do).To create a repeating subformIn the Hierarchy palette, select the parent subform of the subform you want to repeat. I have not been able to reproduce this, but maybe I have a suggestion. Do you have an incomplete action? The button to add an action is grayed out if you don't finish the action you started. that's the only way I've been able to make the form stop letting me add actions. I didn't get the form that full, so maybe there's a limit on the number of actions.

OK, baby steps. If I skip something you don't understand, reference the step number and I'll try to help.Add a drop down list.Add the items you want in the list.Now, this is where you have two choices. You can populate the second list based on the selection in the first list, or you can hide/reveal a list based on the first list.I recommend hiding the unused drop down lists.Add the second drop down list, and add its items.In the Object tab, under the field subtab, set presence to invisible.repea...

Is your layout in the object that contains the text field (probably a subform) set to "flowed"? If it is set to positioned, then the positions of the other fields will not change.

If you submit the form so you can see the result, can you copy the place where the value would be into a text editor and change the font size? I'm wondering if the value is copying over, but you can't see it because it is at 0 font size. Some programs don't see the "shrunk" font size and instead they see the 0 value.If that works, then maybe you can add a process to your submit button to change the font size right before it passes the text field value.

Well, start with what you're putting in your table. If it's a lot of short answers like numbers, then a table is probably best. However, if you have a lot of sentences or phrases as answers, then a subform with text fields inside may be best. For example, if you are taking applications for a college, your answers will likely be phrases like names, addresses, parents' names, contact information. Those take a lot of space and make a column very wide. A subform with text fields can better handle so...

Can you put a new Text Field on top of the area where the GrandTotal would appear? Kinda like putting a transparent film over the top of a picture and writing on that? (Or a new layer on top of an existing picture.) That's how we handle text field "hints" on our forms. There's a Text Field, and on top of that I put a Text Box. When the user enters that field, I make the box hidden. Would something like that work?

Some quick thoughts:Is your page already set to landscape orientation to give you more space to maybe eliminate this problem?Could you change the x and y-axes to give yourself the room you need? (You can put a header on each page automatically.)Would a different structure be better? e.g., you can put text fields in a subform and repeat the subform for your entries. Of course, this wouldn't work if you need to quickly compare values.
