are you working with locally built HTML or are you uploading HTML from AEM or another CMS? I ask because many times if you are uploading from AEM you may not have uploaded the shared resources, which includes the CSS and fonts etc.
Just out of curiosity, if you rename the HTML to index.html does that work? BTW. if you start to see your article size begin to bloat from using the same fonts over and over again you can embed the fonts as part of the application and then simply call the app fonts in your article CSS>
