As a 3rd party consultant I have seen this scenario in DTM far too often now that I think something in the DTM interface should change so that users don't accidentally use the "serialize from value" field when they are not intending to set up event serialization. Many of my clients think it's a way to change how events increment (that's the most common misuse).
