Personalisation in Orchestrated campaigns in AJO

Wanted to use external data coming from an API for personalisation in OC, I assume it should be done by adding the attributes to data set, that is created for a relational schema and add relationship with recipient schema, and add the attributes to enrichment activity and use them in personalisation across Email.

Please suggest any steps missed here.

The steps you've outlined are correct; however, direct API ingestion is not possible. The data must be brought in using one of the ingestion methods listed on this page,
