I'm a little bit confused about the difference between these two cookies. Both contain the visitorID+timestamp, but I dont understand when which cookie is being set. On the test environment of a client I see s_fid, but on the staging and production environment I see s_vi. Can someone explain this to me?

Hi,

Thanks for reaching out. The s_fid is a fallback cookie if the s_vi cookie is unable to be set. H25+ and App Measurement use this method instead of the previous methodology of user agent+ip. There is more information on the method here: https://marketing.adobe.com/resources/help/en_US/sc/implement/visid_fallback.html. Let me know if you have any questions on this.

Thanks!

Tacia
