Workfront is growing and so is the Workfront Wednesday: Did You Know blog series! Originally introduced as a weekly technical tip sent to you via email on Wednesdays, the series has evolved into in-depth success toolkits around topics like mastering work management, adoption, strategy and growth. Based on your feedback, we are excited to introduce Quick Tips on the Workfront Community and retire the weekly email series. Unlike standalone blogs, these tips allow you to easily engage and collaborate with other Workfront power users through a Community discussion so that technical how-to’s can be accompanied with real-world examples.

Quick Tips are short, helpful hints about new or popular topics. They are published to the Workfront Community several times a week, so you don’t have to wait until Wednesday to see them. Access Quick Tips here on the Workfront Community to see what’s already been published. And soon you’ll even be able to submit your own Quick Tips! Stay tuned.

If you prefer email, we’ll be including highlights of popular Quick Tips in our monthly customer newsletter. If you aren’t currently receiving that email, send a note to newsletter@workfront.com to be added.

With that being said, the final Workfront Wednesday: Did You Know? blog provides you with 4 Quick Tips to help you become more self-sufficient on the path to success in 2021. Make sure to check out the Workfront Community for more tips each week!

Set Aside Time Each Week for YOU

Block off your calendar and designate the first hour of each work week to see what’s new, what’s upcoming and how you can make your role as a system administrator easier through training. This might include reading through the Release Notes to see what new features or enhancements will benefit you and your users, reviewing or answering questions on the Workfront Community to see what others are talking about or taking training to learn more about or to take advantage of topics like advanced reporting, integrations or resource management

Define and Visualize Success Factors

Whether or not you were involved in the original decision making process of purchasing Workfront, there is a reason why you are using the platform today. While the key objectives may change each month, quarter or year, start by asking yourself questions like what are we trying to achieve, what does success look like and why does the work my team and I do matter? Then, use Workfront’s reporting capabilities to help you easily identify both the success and challenges of your work management journey and provide an easy-to-read visual to improve upon.

For brainstorming help or ideas to build on, sample success metrics around intake, project and task management can be found under Outcomes, Objectives and Metrics in this blog.

Choose a Champion

This person is your go-to for all things Workfront. For most system administrators, the role of Workfront champion is automatically assumed, simply based on access level and expertise. However, every organization, including yours, has someone who is an early adopter, a natural communicator and an effective collaborator that knows how to use Workfront to problem solve. He or she can rally the troops to keep users engaged and excited and not only wants to hit the goals or success factors you have defined, but wants to exceed them.

If you aren’t sure who this person is, look to see who creates a handful of Workfront reports and dashboards — people who extract and share data across the organization are the ones who often know it best. Or, ask your team members who uses Workfront the most, who is most excited or who finds the most value in it. Chances are, those people are logging in everyday and creating a utilization report tracking login activity will help to show you who those people are.

Don’t Be an Island — Collaboration is Key

Architecting, implementing, scaling and optimizing a work management solution is not something you can nor should do alone. While you may be the system administrator, you need a team of people to make it a success — executive sponsors, champions, group administrators, power users and individual contributors.

Outside of Workfront, some of the best resources will be other like-minded administrators who are trying to solve similar work management related asks. Engage in the Community, review upcoming events and participate in user-groups on topics like reporting to executives or system administrator best practices (enablement). Most importantly, find yourself a buddy system of administrators to have monthly calls with to bounce ideas off of and to celebrate each other's wins to keep the excitement going.

And remember, the entire Workfront team is always here to help - Support is available 24/7, Training publishes new content regularly, Professional Services can help with custom configurations or expansion and Customer Success can help guide you along the journey to optimization.

Don’t Worry — all past Workfront Wednesday: Did You Know? blogs will still be available on Workfront One under Resources > Blogs for you to bookmark, review and share. And we may still publish strategic toolkits in the future, as the need arises vs. every week.
