A4T variables in workspace - use Visits or UV?

I would  like to understand what is the ideal way to pull numbers for an A4T activity in workspace. Should we use visits or unique visitors?

Does using visits against an A4T variable means total number of visits made my visitors? No matter they enter into the activity in all of their visits or not.

Example: If there is a Z activity running on a X product page, and a visitor makes 2 visit on the website, 1 visit on the X product page and 1 visit when he did not visit the X product page. So in workspace, against Z activity, it will show 2 visits? or 1 visit?

sainiarchitFor reporting best practices using Analytics for Target, visit this Adobe Spark page. In the same document you can see under "Which metrics should I use?" The best practice is to use visitors as the normalizing metric . Hope this helps answer your question.

UV and visits are entirely different metrics.

Unique visitor can be used to identify the no of new visitors into your A4T activity, for the given period of time

However, visits would display the number of visits on the activity URL. So each visitor may have one or more visits to the activity URL.

From your example,

If there is a Z activity running on a X product page, and a visitor makes 2 visit on the website, 1 visit on the X product page and 1 visit when he did not visit the X product page. So in workspace, against Z activity, it will show 2 visits? or 1 visit?

Answer: It will show only 1 visit in the A4T activity, as there was only one visit to the activity URL.

Thanks for the explanation tanvia28417128, I totally agree with you that UV and Visits are entirely different metrics.

But I guess if look at the visits metrics against the Activity name in workspace, it will show me 2 visits for the Z activity.

As explained in Analytics & Target - Target is a visitor based system and activity experiences are assigned and persist at visitor level, not the visit level.

If you use the visits metric, know that it reports on each session that a visitor initiates after they qualify for ..., regardless of whether they saw the test experience in subsequent visits.

The visit would be counted against the non-activity page in Analytics, but if you view the A4T reports the visit on the non-activity page would not be counted.

"Visits increment for each session once a user (Unique Visitor) enters an activity, even if the activity is not viewed in subsequent visits. "

Hi tanvia28417128 - I believe this is incorrect - like counting visits to any other eVar while it is persisting, the eVar will get a visit incremented even if the user doesn't have that value set again (i.e. returns to see the Target experience). This is documented here:
