Version Downgrading with Edittable Fields

Hi,

I am wondering if it is possible to convert a PDF of version 1.7, that contains edittable fields, to version 1.6 while preserving the edittability of the fields after conversion. Using Adobe 9, the fields are no longer edittable after conversion.

I am considering trialwaring the latest LiveCycle if this feature is now supported. An example of the PDF in questions is available at the IRS website (http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf/f1042s.pdf).. downgrading the format loses edittability!

Any assistance is appreciated.

Thanks,

Brent

Just giving this a bump.

Has anyone given this a try, or have an explanation? My guess is that some of the 1.7 features are being applied to the textboxes, and those features are not supported in 1.6, just as simple as that.

Hi Brent,

I don't understand the question. The fields remain editable.

When designing the form in LC Designer you can set the minimum target version of Acrobat/Reader that you want the form to work in. This means that you can make sure the form will work before sending it out.

This can be set in the File > Form Properties > Defaults tab in LC Designer.
