Stylus input of signature into PDF

Hi All,

I am currently creating a form which will be signed by customers on the issue of equipment using a tablet PC. After much messing around I can't seem to find a way to input what I believe is called a "wet signature" (direct signing input) field into the form. Would anyone know how I could acheive this

Many thanks, Paul

Hi Paul,

I have an example here in the Flash Demos: http://assure.ly/rqCuEn. You are looking for the third one down - map with signature. However this is a Dynamic XML Form and uses Flash, so I doubt you will get it working on a Tablet (depends on OS).

Also there was a discusion here on using the commenting feature: http://forums.adobe.com/message/2686010#2686010.

You may need to consider what the user will have on the Tablet (Reader/PDF Expert/some other viewer) and then test as to what works).

Good luck,

Niall

Hi Niall,

Thank you for your reply. I had a look at your example in the Flash Demos and that is perfect / the map feature would add some wow to the form I'm creating. The tablet I am writing this for runs full desktop-version Windows 7 so there are very few compatibility issues. The tablet would most likely run Adobe Reader (free version). Would this form work on that platform?

Thanks

Hi Paul,

I would really expect it to work, but I can't test it. Maybe you could load the existing Flash demo form onto the tablet and test. I would be interested to hear back.

You will need to have Adobe Reader X (min version 10.1). See the Flash Reference Card at the above link.

Please note that I believe that the Google Map API is changing and that the Flash object may require amendment in the future.

Good luck,

Niall

Hi Niall,

The flash demo works on the tablet, however I'm confused as to how to get it into livecycle so I could add it to the form? (just the signature input part, really).

Thanks

Hi Paul,

You will need to open the form in the new version of Designer, eg ADEP Designer 10.

The Flash object is a new feature in ADEP Designer 10, it does not exist in earlier versions of LC Designer.

Again, this is set out in the Flash Reference Card and here: http://www.adobe.com/devnet/livecycle/articles/top-10-adep-designer-features.html.

Hope that helps,

Niall
