Record and playback string variable will not copy

I have a string variable -- based on serializing an xml variable -- in a process.

It has "unlimited" length.

When I open the record and playback, there is text there indicating the start of stringified xml:

<node_x

that's about all I can see.

Unfortunately, the "copy value" right-click option on the context menu is greyed out, just when I need it the most!

Is this normal behavior for a scenario like this?

Is there anyway I can get it to copy ....

The length/xml seem to be red-herrings.  It appears to have something to do with the window / perspective settings, but I cannot find a combination that always works yet.

At least try to open and close the variable perspective.
